For engineering degrees to be acceptable, the curriculum must be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) as a professional engineering curriculum.

Work Schedule:0600-1430, 5 days a week. Subject to change based on Agency Needs and mission requirements.
This position may require the candidate to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid drivers license.
This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.

In accordance with BUMEDINST 6220.9B, all personnel, including direct and indirect care providers, administrators, ancillary services, volunteers, students, and others who may come in contact with patients, must receive and maintain appropriate vaccination against seasonal influenza. The incumbent must, as a condition of employment, be immunized on an annual basis against influenza. Refer to local command influenza instruction.
- You will work as a Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) industrial hygienist.
- You will work towards independently conducting industrial hygiene surveys to accurately assess personnel exposures to chemical, physical and biological agents in the workplace.
- You will work to provide recommendations for the reduction or elimination; recommend controls; and to recommend enrollment in specific medical surveillance programs of personnel exposures to chemical, physical and biological agents in the workplace.
- You will plan and conduct complete evaluations of industrial work operations at a naval shipyard and other installations within the area of responsibility.
- You will assist in the preparation of written workplace monitoring plans, collecting exposure monitoring data, and updating the plans as necessary.
- You will prepare exposure monitoring reports.
- You will work within DOEHRS-IH ecosystem to manage IH program responsibilities.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position may require exposure to high noise levels.

- Experience utilizing industrial hygiene concepts, principles and practices, applicable to planning and carrying out all industrial hygiene programs concerned with a wide variety of industrial sites and research laboratories.
- Experience recognizing and evaluating occupational health hazards, including those for which the nature and extent of hazard is not completely understood.
- Experience devising a variety of control measures, including ventilation, shielding, material substitution, change in work procedures, isolation, education, personal protective devices.
- Experience evaluating proposed new work processes and/or materials and or recommend measures to minimize health hazards.
GS-09-

- A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; or
- A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene; or
- Certification from the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (formerly (ABIH)).
