Job Description
The Link 16 Engineering Department Head leads a multidisciplinary team of software/systems engineers and test laboratory personnel in support of the Program Office's integration, configuration, and verification of MIDS JTRS and airborne Tactical Data Link (TDL) systems in accordance with MIL-STD-6016, STANAG 5516, and program-specific requirements. The Department Head is responsible for overseeing requirements decomposition, interface and interoperability analysis, waveform and configuration management, and discrepancy investigation and resolution, while ensuring effective coordination with Government and Industry stakeholders across integration and test activities.
This role drives execution of system integration and verification efforts, ensures alignment with program objectives and acquisition milestones, and maintains disciplined systems engineering and test practices across the team. The Department Head directly impacts system interoperability, certification readiness, and fleet capability delivery by enabling high-quality verification and validation of system performance, enforcing technical rigor, and proactively managing technical, schedule, and programmatic risks.
CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES
The Link-16 Engineering Department Head will perform the following under the general supervision and guidance from senior leaders:
Coordinate internal resources and sub-contractors for the successful execution of projects.
Maintain and manage relationships with clients, sub-contractors and stakeholders of assigned projects.
Basic project knowledge and technical understanding and/or hands-on experience in department related field.
Knowledge of the associated DoD policies, procedures and processes required for proper implementation of project plans and milestones.
Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility and execution realism.
Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate techniques. Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation to include detailed project plans to monitor and track progress of assigned projects.
Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques and communicate/report project status and needs to management and associated clients.
Develop existing staff capabilities, perform hiring and staff management functions in accordance with company policies. Provide guidance to team members and monitor their performance, discipline and attendance on regular basis.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
The Link-16 Engineering Department Head will have the following knowledge and skills:
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Clear translation of thoughts into technical reports. plans and correspondences in methods acceptable to industry standards.
Demonstrates excellent clear and concise verbal communication skills.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Project Management Professional Certification Preferred

PAY RANGE
$120,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually, DOE

SECURITY CLEARANCE
Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
