Overview

Illustrator (JXQN-2026-25039):

Bowhead is seeking an Illustrator to support the Weapons Systems Training Branch at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane. The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing high-quality, mission-focused training solutions for advanced weapon systems used by the U.S. Navy and other defense stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

The Illustrator is assigned to projects involving several of the common art media such as pen and ink, pencil, tempra, wash oils, and airbrush over a period of time.

Essential functions will include:

• Execute drawings that have been conceived by others and presented in the form of rough sketches.
• The Illustrator does not exercise extensive knowledge of the subject matter involved when preparing medical, scientific or technical equipment illustrations.

• Illustrator will assist in formulating concepts and illustrations from models, sketches, memory and imagination.
• Illustrating work assigned does not require an extensive prior knowledge about the subjects illustrated.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Associates degree is required an at least five (5+) years of work experience.

• Knowledge of DoD and Federal Agencies' controlled unclassified information (CUI)/sensitive information security requirements is required.

• Demonstrable experience developing and delivering training programs

• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts

• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
