Polaris Alpha® Advanced Systems, a Parsons Company, is seeking an amazingly talented Automation Test Engineer whose role will be essential to the design, implementation, and delivery of high performance, secure, mission critical solutions. We seek engineers that are versatile, display leadership qualities, and are enthusiastic to tackle new challenges as we continue to provide the military with cutting edge tools. For this position, the Automation Test Engineer will analyze, design, and be involved in the implementation of advanced capabilities for armament systems at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. The role includes testing the design and implementation of software modules for new tactical fire control systems based on established requirements, with strong consideration for interoperability and software architecture openness.

What You'll Be Doing:
- Requirements analysis and traceability
- Provide test/integration expertise to the software engineering team for solutions via software implementation, including functional and non-functional testing
- Review system engineering documentation to ensure test plans and methodologies completely, accurately, comprehensively, and consistently meet system needs
- Support the development of system integration plans, procedures and scenarios used in the conduct of automated software/hardware system integration testing
- Monitor system performance trends and identify potential issues
- Installation, Integration and Test of software modules for U.S. Army tactical fire control systems in an Agile development environment
- Evaluate and select appropriate automation tools and frameworks before ultimately integrating these tools into existing development pipelines
- Develop test cases, plans, automated integration test scripts and frameworks in support of a large-scale software development effort
- Update existing scripts and frameworks for improvement and optimize tests for speed and resource use
- Collaborate with an agile team of manual testers, software developers, system engineers, and product leadership to identify tests cases for automation; also troubleshooting issues and working closely with software development teams; define test strategies and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software.
- Enable continuous testing principles into existing development pipelines.
- Execute multiple levels of tests and analyze test results; perform functional, regression, performance, integration, and security testing for comprehensive test coverage and identify and resolve software defects.
- Design and implement automated performance tests and analyze system behavior; identify bottlenecks and optimize application performance
- Software configuration management using JIRA or similar tools
- Support periodic design reviews
- Support Agile sprint planning activities, test events, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to align testing efforts with project goals.
- Support demonstrations, expositions, and test events (travel required).
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or in a related technical field
- 3+ years of experience in software test engineering
- Expertise with test automation tools and frameworks; developed automation test suites for web-based capabilities with tools such as Cypress, Squish, Selenium, TestNG, Appium, JUnit
- Experience generating automated tests for back-end and front-end components
- Experience testing a large, microservice-based system.
- Experience with programming/scripting languages: Java, JavaScript, Cucumber, Gherkin
- Experience with API testing tools: Postman, REST Assured, SoapUI
- Experience with Development, Build and Configuration tools for example the Atlassian Gitlab toolsets (e.g., Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Confluence, Git, Gitlab CI, Maven, Gradle, NPM)
- Experience writing test cases, procedures, and documenting results
- Experience working with Virtual Machines and Docker/Kubernetes containers
- Experience using SQL
- Familiarity with DoD applications running on Windows and Linux environments
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent organizational, communications, problem-solving and people skills, be a self-starter, and enjoy being part of and contributing to a hard-working team.
- Must have the ability to quickly learn and creatively leverage new technologies.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
- Must be able to travel.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
- Experience deploying applications to Windows and Linux environments
- Software development lifecycle experience (SDLC), especially within the DoD
- Experience with Government standards and procedures.
- Understanding of, and experience working within, the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Experience with or knowledge of U.S. Army tactical fire control systems
