Tria Federal is seeking a Safety & Environmental Specialist.

***This role is 100% on-site.

***This role is Contingent Upon Contract Award.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and occupational health requirements across warehouse, production, maintenance, and logistics operations.
  • Implement, manage, and enforce safety and occupational health programs in accordance with applicable DoD, Department of the Navy (DON), OSHA, and NMRLC policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses (JHA) and workplace evaluations to identify potential safety, health, and environmental hazards associated with production activities, equipment operations, and warehouse functions.
  • Investigate mishaps, accidents, and near‑miss incidents by analyzing the sequence of events, conducting interviews, reviewing environmental factors, and evaluating contractor training records to identify causal and contributing factors.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement corrective actions and preventative measures to reduce risk of injury, illness, or property damage.
  • Apply knowledge of environmental concepts and regulatory requirements related to hazardous material and hazardous waste management, handling, storage, and disposal.
  • Adapt and apply safety and environmental practices where established guidance is limited or unavailable, using sound professional judgment and risk management principles.
  • Develop, update, and implement safety procedures, instructions, and controls, including innovative safety solutions to mitigate hazards associated with warehouse and production operations.
  • Provide safety and occupational health training to contractor personnel, ensuring understanding of safety concepts, hazard awareness, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct inspections and surveys of work areas to assess compliance with safety, fire protection, and environmental standards, and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Maintain documentation and records related to safety training, inspections, hazard reports, mishap investigations, and corrective action plans.
  • Coordinate with management, Government representatives, and operational leads on safety matters and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Operate material handling equipment as required to support safety inspections and training activities within warehouse environments.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management in support of safety, environmental, and occupational health objectives.

Qualifications:
  • Shall have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Shall have a minimum of five (5) years of experience working as a safety specialist in a warehouse environment.
  • Shall possess comprehensive knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, practices, procedures, and standards applicable to warehouse and logistics operations.
  • Shall have knowledge of environmental concepts, principles, and practices, including regulatory requirements for hazardous waste management and disposal.
  • Shall have familiarity with chemical, biological, and ecological concepts and the ability to adapt safety and environmental practices where relevant guidance is not established.
  • Shall have knowledge of job hazard analysis techniques and other analytical methods sufficient to perform mishap investigations and identify causal factors through interviews, event reconstruction, environmental assessments, and review of training records.
  • Shall demonstrate skill in developing and implementing innovative safety procedures to minimize the risk of injury or property damage resulting from production activities and equipment operations.
  • Shall have knowledge of safety training concepts and the ability to effectively train contractor personnel in safety awareness and safe work practices.
  • Shall possess a valid driver's license and be capable of operating material handling equipment, including stand‑up forklifts and 4,000-6,000 lb forklifts.
  • Shall possess OSHA Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) certification.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
