Description:This team is working new development software where our team members get to work hands on from the lab to the aircraft in all stages of development, including design, code, integration, and lab and field test. **IMPACT: **
In this role, you will apply your expertise in embedded software and avionics to lead and scale an Agile Scrum team delivering complex, flight- and safety-critical systems. You will drive the development of robust, high-performance software across a wide range of aircraft platforms, enabling both rapid prototyping and fielded solutions. Your leadership will shape technical direction, accelerate innovation, and directly contribute to the advancement of next-generation aerospace capabilities.
**ROLES AND RESPONSIOBILITIES:**
This position offers a motivated engineer the opportunity to have a high impact on a productive program as they grow their own skillset.
• Lead geographically distributed Agile software development team across the full software lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership in embedded software, guiding architecture, design, and delivery of flight- and safety-critical systems.
• Drive execution of program milestones by managing risks, removing blockers, and ensuring high-quality software releases.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering to decompose requirements into actionable software designs and implementations.
• Own Agile processes including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and Program Increment (PI) planning.
• Develop and maintain system and software architectures, including network design and integration across platforms.
• Conduct trade studies to inform software and system decisions at the portfolio level.
• Oversee hardware assets, system readiness, OS image management, and automation to improve team efficiency.
• Support integration, test, and ground station development for manned and unmanned systems, ensuring cross-IPT alignment.
• Communicate technical status, risks, and strategy to leadership while guiding teams and serving as an avionics SME.
• Some travel may be required.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or above from an accredited college in a relevant field of study; or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Agile software development processes and leading Agile teams through the full software development lifecycle using Git, JIRA, Jenkins, Confluence, etc.
• Experience with embedded Python, C and/or C++ for safety critical applications
***Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access and a Secret clearance updated within the last 5 years to be considered***
Desired Skills:
• Experience with VectorCast, Polyspace, and associated development toolchains or other equivalent unit test tool suites.
• Experience with software simulations and hardware in the loop testing and integration.
• Experience mentoring and training junior engineers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Good communication skills
• Experience with developing and certifying safety critical software
• Experience developing and maintaining a CI/CD pipeline
