Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes overseeing law enforcement operations by providing direct tactical guidance to subordinate officers during daily patrols; conducting on-the-job training for patrol officers in specific job techniques to ensure compliance with departmental standards; establishing incident command during critical events by employing National Incident Management System (NIMS) protocols to contain incidents; preparing detailed law enforcement reports using web-based programs to ensure accurate documentation of all incidents.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

- Supervises two Civilian Police Desk Sergeants, four military Desk Sergeants and the operations of the Military Police Desk.
- Plans work assignments and schedules personnel to assure successful accomplishment of assigned missions and responsibilities.
- Advises and instructs employees concerning work and administrative related matters. Informs supervisor of anticipated vacancies, increase in workload or other circumstances to obtain replacements, temporary help or additional staff.
- Protection functions, law enforcement duties, accident investigation, crime prevention, traffic control, evidence gathering, bike patrol, and community policing.

- Certify as (Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunication System) and NCIC (National Crime Information Center) terminal operator
- Certified breathalyzer operator
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License
