Position: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Lexington, MA (On-Site)
Length: 3+ Year Contract
Job Description:
Researches, plans, designs, verifies, validates and develops mechanical and/or electromechanical products and systems, such as metals, instruments, controls, plastics, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, resonance, hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency or costs. May be responsible for the transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide support for the mechanical design and testing of complex mechanical, opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
• Responsibilities will include design, integration, and testing of complex hardware from conceptual design through fabrication and field performance evaluation.
• The candidate must be knowledgeable in a broad range of challenging problems involving structures, mechanisms, thermal systems, optics and electronics.
• This position involves working in close-knit teams with design, analysis and test personnel.
• Candidates must be enthusiastic, innovative and motivated self–starters able to work independently, or as part of a group.
• Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and must be able to present status/results to internal and external audiences.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, assembly and environmental testing of high reliability electronic, electro-optic, mechanisms, or opto-mechanical systems for DoD or aerospace applications.
• Experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace. Masters degree a plus.
Preferred Skills:
• Demonstrated experience with the development of opto-mechanical or electro-mechanical systems utilized on spacecraft and/or aircraft strongly preferred.
• Experience in DoD, military, and/or aerospace applications highly preferred
• Opto-Mechanical experience would be highly preferred.
