This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions for the GS-2210, Information Technology (IT) Management Series (Alternative A).
Experience: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:Knowledge of operating systems software principles, methods and practices; IT infrastructure, IT security, principles and methods; systems testing and evaluation principles and methods. Knowledge of IT principles, practices, system analysis concepts and methods to install, configure, test, and implement modifications and to interface hardware and software programs with operating systems such as Windows operating systems (OS). Knowledge of remote desktop services (RDS), VMware or Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), thin/zero clients, application virtualization, user experience monitoring, Linux operating systems (OS) management, server hardware, shared storage, Local Area Networks (LANs) and network core services (e.g., Active Directory, Exchange). Knowledge of cloud architectures and the migration of information into cloud infrastructures and distributed information processing configurations, distributed storage and storage functions, and datacenter configurations and optimization. Knowledge of the functionality and operability of the current operating environment sufficient to determine requirements and integrate them with overall design and characteristics of operating systems hardware and software programs and to act as a quality assurance evaluator. Knowledge of performance management and measurement methods to monitor systems performance data and make application systems tuning adjustments to optimize performance and correct and prevent problems. Knowledge of configuration management disciplines (planning, identification, control status accounting, and auditing) methods and techniques for integrating information system components sufficient to install and maintain software and hardware, optimize functionality of systems, and diagnose and recover failed systems. Ability to gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluative methods to assess information, plan the sequence of actions necessary, make sound decisions, and solve a variety of system problems, as well as maintain up-to-date awareness of security vulnerabilities and to assist in preparing accreditation and certification packages. - Perform services as an IT Specialist for network structures, cloud architectures and the migration of information into cloud infrastructures and distributed information processing configurations, distributed storage and storage functions, and datacenter configurations and optimization.
- Plan, acquire, and install new and/or enhanced complex operating systems environment including personal computers, network/enterprise servers, components, and associated software and systems.
- Keep abreast of emerging technology to predict future system and software needs. Prepare recommendations, justifications, and specifications for operating systems and equipment.
- Provide technical guidance and instruction to users and other IT specialists. Prepare, coordinate, and implement policy and procedures for hardware and software applications.
- Develop, update and maintain all documentation related to administering systems and networks, and provides guidance to management.
