Network Migration Support Technician


Assignment Time Frame: May 2026 - August 2027

Job Description:
The role will require:
• Travel to approximately 9 DFAS sites
• Installation, configuration, and onboarding of VERSA devices, Aruba wireless APs, and network switches
• Execution of end-to-end site migrations to DoDNet, including cutover support
• Troubleshooting and remediation activities in coordination with the Thunderdome, Network Operations, and Migration teams
• Hands-on support during pre-migration, migration, and post-migration validation activities

This role requires personnel with hands-on experience installing network hardware and performing network migration, configuration, and onboarding activities. Candidates must be comfortable working with Aruba wireless access points, Cisco switches, and Versa networking devices in an enterprise environment.

In addition to standard installer skillsets, candidates should possess the following:
• Cable installation and termination (fiber and copper)
• Rack and stack of network equipment
• Basic to intermediate troubleshooting and testing of network connections
• Ability to read and follow network diagrams, installation plans, and migration runbooks
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and labeling practices
• Experience supporting live production environments during migration activities

Additional Required Technical Skillsets:
• Cisco switch configuration and troubleshooting, including:
– VLAN creation and management
– Trunking (802.1Q)
– 802.1X (DOT1x) authentication
– AAA configuration (RADIUS/TACACS+)
• Aruba wireless configuration and troubleshooting
• Network device onboarding and validation following migration
• Basic understanding of routing, switching, and access control concepts

Candidates with networking certifications (e.g., Network+, CCNA, Aruba, Versa) are preferred.

GES Position Overview:
GES is seeking a Network Migration Support Technician with strong hands-on expertise in routing, switching, and network migrations to join our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team at Ft. Meade, MD.

PROGRAM SUMMARY:
The DES program supports a highly demanding mission and requires top technical talent to migrate common IT services for over twenty DoD agencies under a single enterprise platform. In this role, you will support discovery, installation, migration, and onboarding activities necessary to transition agency networks into DODNet.

You will work closely with senior engineers, migration leads, and operations teams to execute site migrations, validate connectivity, and ensure a smooth transition to the target architecture. Leidos requires technically well-rounded professionals who can perform precise, hands-on work while adapting to the complexity and scale of a large DoD migration effort.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform on-site and remote discovery activities to support migration planning
• Install, configure, and onboard network hardware including switches, wireless APs, and edge devices
• Execute migration activities following approved migration plans and runbooks
• Configure and troubleshoot Cisco switches, including VLANs, trunking, DOT1x, and AAA
• Configure and troubleshoot Aruba wireless infrastructure
• Integrate, test, and validate network connectivity post-migration
• Coordinate troubleshooting efforts with migration, network operations, and security teams
• Conduct network testing and validation to ensure performance, connectivity, and compliance
• Capture and analyze network performance data during and after migration
• Support optimization of end-to-end system performance and data flow
• Document installation, migration results, and issues encountered during execution

Required Qualifications,
• Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience; additional years of directly applicable experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
• Hands-on experience with enterprise network installations and migrations
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, and access control
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco switches
• Familiarity with Aruba wireless technologies
• DoD IAT Level II (Security+) certification or equivalent is required - Must provide this when submitting applicant for consideration.

Desired Qualifications,
• Experience supporting large-scale network or enterprise migrations
• Consulting or professional services experience
• Strong working knowledge of IP networking principles
• Familiarity with network management and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or Junos Space
