Facility Security Officer (FSO)
Position Summary
The Facility Security Officer (FSO) is responsible for administering and overseeing the organization’s industrial security program in compliance with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), and other applicable federal security regulations. The FSO ensures the protection of classified information, maintains facility clearance requirements, and serves as the primary liaison with government security officials.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer the company’s Industrial Security Program in accordance with NISPOM and DCSA requirements
• Maintain the facility clearance (FCL) and ensure compliance with all safeguarding requirements
• Oversee personnel security processes including clearance submissions, upgrades, and reinvestigations via systems such as DISS
• Manage classified document control, storage, transmission, and destruction procedures
• Conduct security education, training, and awareness (SETA) programs for all cleared personnel
• Perform self-inspections, audits, and prepare for DCSA security reviews
• Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for security programs
• Ensure compliance with visit authorization requests (VARs) and classified meeting protocols
• Report and document security incidents, violations, and suspicious activities in accordance with regulatory requirements
• Maintain access control systems, alarm systems, and physical security measures for classified spaces
• Coordinate with program managers and leadership on security requirements for classified contracts
• Track and manage DD254 requirements and contract security classification specifications
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience in security, military, or federal contracting environments)
• Active Secret clearance required; Top Secret / SCI eligibility preferred
• Minimum 3–5+ years of experience in industrial security or related field
• Demonstrated experience operating under NISPOM guidelines
• Experience with DISS and other security systems
• Strong knowledge of personnel, physical, and information security disciplines
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
