Job Description
Piper Companies is looking for a Hardware Engineering Manager to join a leading provider of chassis-based networking and system-level hardware solutions, located near San Jose, CA. The ideal Hardware Engineering Manager will lead the design, architecture, and delivery of complex, high-performance hardware platforms used in data center and telecom environments, owning systems from concept through production.

Responsibilities for the Hardware Engineering Manager:
- Lead the architecture and delivery of chassis-level hardware systems, driving innovation across multi-line card platforms, backplanes, power, cooling, and optics
- Own end-to-end system execution, from design and validation through production readiness and global deployment
- Provide hands-on technical leadership while mentoring and developing a high-performing hardware engineering team
- Collaborate cross-functionally to bring complex networking systems to life at scale in data center and telecom environments
Qualifications for the Hardware Engineering Manager:
- 10+ years of experience in hardware engineering, including experience as a technical lead or hardware engineering manager working on complex systems
- Strong hands-on background in hardware design, board bring-up, and high-speed interfaces (PCIe or similar)
- Proven chassis-level system experience, including multi-line card architectures, backplane and interconnect strategy, power distribution, cooling/airflow design, EMI/EMC compliance, and optical connectivity
- Demonstrated system-level program management experience, managing full system schedules, cross-team dependencies, production milestones, risks, and certifications
- Must be eligible to work in the United States and obtain and maintain an Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required; Master's degree or relevant certifications preferred
Compensation/Benefits for the Hardware Engineering Manager:
- Salary range: $170,000 - $210,000 annually (based on experience)
