Job Description

Duties

  • Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of 6th CTS/JFA Flight ensuring that Air Ground Operations School Training complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs
  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities
  • Represents 6th CTS Academics Flight with a variety of installation and functional area organizations
  • Develops Education and Training Materials and Testing Procedures
  • Conducts, obtains and evaluates training

  • This is a Supervisory Position. A 1-year probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
  • Incumbent may be subject to work other than normal duty hours
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use
  • Responsible to the Squadron Commander for implementation and instruction of 6 CTS Formal Courses
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, , Administrative and Management Positions, for the GS-1712, Training Instruction Series.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes develop goals and objectives that integrate organization and training objectives. Plans and schedules work in a manner that promotes a smooth flow and even distribution for subordinates. Advise and provide counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Meet with key customer and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures, and resolve problems that arise. Set and enforce standards for courseware materials. Develops and maintains a wide range of training materials (written training guides or pamphlets, graphic visual aids, training films, sound recordings, multi-media video training tapes, or curriculum materials, etc) and develop educational courses to meet specific training requirements. Conduct required courses which consist of New Employee Orientation, Safety Training, etc. Provide attendees with evaluation material. Sorts and assesses evaluation material feedback. Prepares report on the effectiveness in meeting course objective.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of organizations objectives, processes involved in military and civilian training, and/or processes relating to training programs in parallel business and industry organization.

2. Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources, as well as the principles, techniques, and objectives of test and evaluation.

3. Knowledge of basic budget preparation as it apples to preparing operating and capital expenditure training.

4. Skill in developing course materials and presenting formal and informal courses and briefings.

5. Skill to instruct, facilitate and manage classroom settings.

6. Ability to use electronic equipment in gathering, developing, and analyzing a variety of data to make recommendations based on assessments.

7. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
