The Level 2 Research Scientist applies advanced scientific principles to support research, innovation, and early-stage technology development. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, hands-on research experience, and the ability to contribute to scientific studies that inform future products and capabilities.

We are looking for a Research Scientist to join a dynamic team in College Park, MD.
Research Scientist - Level 2
The Level 2 Research Scientist applies advanced scientific principles to support research, innovation, and early-stage technology development. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, hands-on research experience, and the ability to contribute to scientific studies that inform future products and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and provide guidance on the application of scientific principles and concepts.
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies, scientific theories, and industry trends through literature, academia, and technical forums.
- Conduct laboratory research and execute scientific studies to support research objectives.
- Plan, design, develop, and execute scientific experiments and research initiatives.
- Perform feasibility studies to evaluate new concepts, technologies, and methodologies.
- Apply scientific principles to support potential inventions and product development, often years ahead of formal product roadmaps.
- Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams on research activities and initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of intellectual property, including research findings and innovations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or Physics from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the field.
- A Master's degree may substitute for 2 years of experience (6 years total required).
- A PhD may substitute for 4 years of experience (4 years total required).
- In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of experience may be substituted (12 years total required).
- Experience conducting laboratory research and executing scientific studies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to support research design and development.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and contribute to multidisciplinary research efforts.
- US citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required
