Job Description
Blu Omega is seeking a Full Stack Java/Python Engineer to contribute to innovative NIH software development initiatives. Utilizing Agile methodologies, you'll play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying native and cloud-based solutions that support critical research and operational objectives. Your expertise will help shape impactful technological solutions, supporting NIH efforts in research administration and clinical research systems, all while working in a dynamic, collaborative environment that fosters growth and innovation.
Location: Remote opportunity with a preference for candidates located in the DMV area to facilitate collaboration and communication.
Clearance Required: Eligible to apply for a Public Trust clearance. The start date is immediate upon securing the required clearance.
Responsibilities Collaborate within Agile teams to support the design, development, and implementation of native and cloud-based software components. Evaluate system design and architecture concepts to ensure robust, scalable, and secure solutions. Develop and maintain APIs using Python, ensuring reliability and performance. Drive the management and deployment of applications in AWS cloud environments, utilizing services such as Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, Step Functions, RDS, Elasticsearch, and Redis. Support continuous integration and deployment pipelines, primarily utilizing GitHub Actions. Analyze and troubleshoot software applications, proactively identify risks, and recommend mitigation strategies. Work across functional teams to effectively communicate findings and support project objectives.
Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of IT development experience. 3+ years' experience developing APIs with Python. 5+ years' experience with Java programming, including frameworks like Struts and Spring Boot. Practical experience managing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions. Working knowledge of Docker images and containerization. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate risks. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of managing multiple priorities.
Nice to Haves (Not Required) Understanding of Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence workflows. 3+ years' experience with Node.js libraries, preferably Vue.js. Extensive experience with AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, Step Functions, RDS, Elasticsearch, and Redis. Prior experience working with NIH IT systems supporting clinical research or research administration.
