DRPM SUB is responsible for :

The acquisition of COLUMBIA Class Submarines and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the class. The program is a major defense acquisition program and is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of War.

The acquisition of VIRGINIA Class Submarines and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E), Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E), and Fleet introduction of the U.S. Navy's newest class of nuclear attack submarines. The program is a major defense acquisition program with a total life cycle cost of approximately $336B. Additionally, successful improvement of the Class' capabilities is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of War.

The SSN(X) Office is responsible for the acquisition and design of the future fast attack submarine and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the future submarine. The future Attack Submarine will be designed to retain multi-mission capability and sustained combat presence in denied waters with a focus on greater speed, stealth, and horizontal payloads and salvo rates.

Serco supports the US Navy as a prime for SIB contract supporting the acquisition of submarines and surface vessels. The SIB concept unifies submarine related activities into an organization with the goal of eliminating traditional stovepipe structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities.

Serco-NA is seeking a motivated individual to provide help to the Submarine Industrial Base (SIB) Advance Manufacturing (AdvM) Team. Our Advance Manufacturing Team leverages existing technology to include artificial intelligence/machine learning, robotics, Industry 4.0, advance Non-destructive (NDT) testing, lasers, and a myriad of other technologies to apply withing the Maritime Industrial Base.

We are seeking a Deployable Advanced Manufacturing (AdvM) Readiness & Innovation Lead

The Deployable Advanced Manufacturing Readiness & Innovation Lead serves as a key enabler of fleet readiness by driving the adoption, effective use, and operational organization of shipboard additive manufacturing (AM) and AdvM capabilities across the U.S. Navy. This position supports the MIB/SIB objectives by incentivizing sailor-led innovation, capturing measurable readiness and cost benefits, and enabling fleet-wide knowledge sharing of additive manufacturing successes afloat and deployed. The role blends program development, fleet engagement, technical AM/AdvM expertise, and strategic communications with regular travel to ships, submarines, public events, Joint bases, training facilities, and academic institutions to support installations, training, and data collection.

In this role, you will:
  • Conduct Innovation & Awards Program Development : Establish and manage an awards and recognition program to incentivize sailors to develop creative AM solutions that enhance readiness, reduce downtime, and improve operational capability; define submission criteria, evaluation metrics, and recognition mechanisms aligned with MIB priorities; promote fleet participation through targeted outreach and strategic communications.
  • Do Fleet Outreach & Data Collection: Conduct outreach to AM-equipped ships, submarines, and aircraft carriers to collect: operational use cases and best practices; good news stories and sailor-driven innovation examples; casualty reports cleared and maintenance actions enabled through AM; quantitative and qualitative data supporting cost avoidance, lead time reduction, and improved readiness; Organize and maintain structured data sets to support MIB reporting and analysis
  • Develop Communications & Publications: Draft and edit articles, success stories, and technical summaries for internal MIB communications; develop external-facing articles and content for Navy publications and official outreach platforms highlighting afloat and deployed AM achievements; and translate technical outcomes into clear, compelling narratives suitable for leadership, workforce engagement, and public affairs audiences
  • Provide Additive Manufacturing Technical Support : Serve as a subject matter expert resource for shipboard AM systems; train sailors on the operation, use, care, and maintenance of AM equipment, Naval policies, and associated software; provide on-site and remote technical support as required
  • Travel for Installation & Deployment Support: Travel to fleet units to conduct, oversee, or support installation of polymer AM systems aboard ships and submarines; coordinate with ship's force, regional maintenance activities, and program stakeholders to ensure installations meet technical, safety, and operational requirements; work with OSD, the Joint Additive Manufacturing Group to advance use of Naval AM assets in support of joint forces. This will require the ability to travel 30% of the time, including CONUS and OCONUS travel, to support ship visits, training, installations, events, and fleet engagement activities.
  • Prepare professional presentations for senior leaders.
  • Manage taskers, deadlines, suspense items and stakeholders follow through across portfolio
  • Prepare read-aheads and coordinate material for flag and SES engagements, program reviews and cross-Navy working groups
  • Assist in developing program strategies, implementation plans and performance dashboards.
  • Work with the SIB team, which is spread across the United States focused on workforce development/marketing, supply chain/sustainment, and technology developments.


To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • An active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or 9 years of equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience with AM systems; familiarity with AM software and the ability to train end users; strong written communication skills, including experience producing technical or programmatic articles; ability to effectively engage with sailors, maintainers, engineers, and leadership; ability to work independently in a remote environment while supporting geographically dispersed stakeholders
  • Prior experience supporting the U.S. Navy, Department of Defense, or shipboard systems; experience capturing and analyzing readiness metrics, cost savings, or operational impact data; familiarity with shipboard maintenance processes and CASREP workflows; experience supporting innovation programs or workforce engagement initiatives.
  • Experience writing Naval policy, publications, and training content.
  • Experience standing up Naval schools and supporting the creation of Naval AM related content.
  • Ability to communicate effectively technical information to non-technical stakeholders is required.
  • Prior experience in integrating AM systems and other technologies into Navy shipboard systems is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively engage with sailors, maintainers, engineers, and leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with proven experience leading teams and instructing others in complex environments.
  • To be comfortable working in a remote environment and collaborating via digital tools (Teams, SharePoint, or similar).
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • A customer-oriented team player focused on mission who is self-motivated, driven and can work independently in a remote environment while supporting geographically dispersed stakeholders.
  • The ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
