Construction Engineer (Principal / Sr. Principal)
Senior Level | Colorado Springs, CO | Secret Clearance Eligible
Support the development of next-generation deep-space radar sites-engineering and overseeing large-scale infrastructure projects that enable mission-critical deep space advanced radar system operations.
A Day in the Life - What you'll do
Derive and allocate site facility and construction requirements supporting DARC radar site development.
Support the management of Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AE&C) subcontracts across project phases.
Review and redline large-scale drawing packages during 30/60/90% design reviews.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support site design, development, and construction execution.
Provide schedule inputs and support project planning activities across construction and engineering efforts.
Support earned value management and cost tracking for construction and infrastructure initiatives.
Brief program leadership on project status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
Contribute to the design and construction of infrastructure including roads, ductbanks, antenna foundations, facilities, cooling systems, water management, power systems, and security elements.
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, and regulatory requirements across all site development activities.
Support commissioning and integration of facility systems supporting radar operations.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field from an accredited university
Principal Level: 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3 years with a Master's degree or 1 year with a PhD
Sr. Principal Level: 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 6 years with a Master's degree or 4 years with a PhD
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
Experience with Architecture and Engineering (A&E) design processes
Experience reading, interpreting, and reviewing A&E drawing packages
Experience supporting site design, development, and construction projects
Familiarity with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)
Experience applying engineering codes, standards, and regulations
Technical design experience in at least one A&E discipline such as power systems, electrical distribution, mechanical systems, BMS, or SCADA
Ability to travel up to 25% CONUS and OCONUS
Preferred Qualifications
Active DoD Secret clearance
Experience with technical design across multiple A&E disciplines
Experience managing major subcontractors and large-scale A&E projects
Experience delivering construction projects for the Department of Defense
Experience supporting overseas construction efforts
Familiarity with International Building Code (IBC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards
Experience supervising large-scale construction projects
Experience with proposal development and evaluation
Experience with construction cost estimating tools such as RSMeans
Experience with value engineering and constructability analysis
Experience with earned value management and program scheduling
Experience with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo
Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Experience with data center design
Familiarity with Radio Frequency (RF) systems such as radar or satellite communications
