Job Description:
The ServiceNow Operations Developer supports the ongoing maintenance, stability, and operational readiness of the ServiceNow platform for the IT organization, and is responsible for ensuring the platform remains secure, compliant, reliable, and aligned with federal and enterprise standards. The developer performs configuration, break/fix, enhancements, troubleshooting, and operational sustainment across core ITSM, HRSD, UAM/PAM-related catalog items, and other platform components used across the organization.
The role requires close collaboration with platform leads, fulfillment teams, audit/compliance stakeholders, and application owners to keep the platform running smoothly, address incidents and defects, manage updates and releases, and meet operational SLAs. Work must follow IT change management, development, and audit guidelines as referenced in ServiceNow operations communications and governance discussions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day sustainment activities including break/fix, troubleshooting, defect resolution, operational monitoring, and small enhancements.
- Maintain and update ServiceNow configuration elements such as Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Catalog Items, Flows, and IntegrationHub actions.
- Ensure compliance with AFS IT change management and audit requirements for all platform updates and deployments (story/change records, definitions of done, code review).
- Support operational workflows tied to ITSM (Incidents, Requests, Problems, Changes), HRSD, and identity-related processes (UAM/PAM catalog items and fulfillment flows).
- Monitor and maintain integration points with internal/external systems, ensuring stability and proper routing, assignment, logging, and fallback/error handling.
- Assist in platform upgrades, patching, module activations, plugin updates, and regression testing.
- Maintain data quality, access controls, and compliance with federal and organizational security/privacy requirements.
- Collaborate with Service Desk, app teams, platform leads, and fulfillment teams to address issues, streamline operations, and improve configurability and supportability.
- Evaluate and implement operational improvements to workflows, SLAs, notifications, and routing logic to ensure a seamless user and fulfiller experience.
- Provide documentation, runbooks, and operational knowledge transfer for sustained support.
- Support audit, compliance, and reporting requirements related to ServiceNow operations (ticket records, approval flows, role mappings, operational logs).
Required Certifications:
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- ServiceNow CIS – Application Developer
Required Skills:
- ServiceNow development (ITSM, Catalog, Workflow, Scripting)) – Advanced
- Troubleshooting & operational sustainment of ServiceNow platform – Advanced
- Integration experience using REST/SOAP APIs or Integration Hub – Intermediate
- JavaScript Glide API, and ServiceNow scripting patterns – Advanced
- Understanding of Change Management & Audit-Compliant Development Processes – Intermediate
- Data validation, import logic, and template management – (aligned to data-quality topics highlighted in backlog refinement) – Intermediate
- Knowledge of fulfillment, routing, assignment groups, and operational workflows (ITSM/UAM/PAM/HRSD) – Intermediate
