Job Description:

The Classified Document Control Specialist (Senior Associate, Level 2) supports the secure handling, tracking, storage, and lifecycle management of classified materials for L3Harris programs. This position is suited for individuals with 2-4 years of experience in industrial security or classified document control. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and the capacity to learn new systems and procedures quickly. Responsibilities also include access control management for Open Storage Areas and providing training on classified handling requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Receive, log, track, store, and safeguard classified documents and media in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and internal L3Harris procedures.
  • Utilize the Security Information Management System (SIMS) to manage document accountability, inventories, access logs, and reporting.
  • Use the National Industrial Security System (NISS) and the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) to support personnel clearance verification and facility-level security record updates.
  • Conduct routine and special inventories of classified holdings; identify discrepancies and work with security leadership on resolution.
  • Control access to classified documents by verifying clearance eligibility and need to know, and ensure proper access documentation.
  • Administer access control systems for Open Storage Areas, including managing access lists, validating logs, and supporting periodic access reviews.
  • Provide training and refresher guidance on classified handling procedures, Open Storage Area protocols, storage practices, and foundational security best practices.
  • Support self‑inspections, area checks, documentation reviews, and preparation for Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) assessments.
  • Maintain accurate logs, forms, and documentation to ensure full compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Collaborate with program staff, government customers, and security leadership to support operational security needs and maintain compliance.
  • Serve as a Media Control Custodian by supporting basic classified media tracking and assisting with authorized data transfers under established procedures.
  • Maintain accountability records for classified media and coordinate with security/IT personnel as needed to support compliant media handling.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior industrial security experience; or a Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior industrial security experience; or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior industrial security experience.
  • Active US Secret or Top-Secret Security Clearance.
  • 2-4 years of experience in industrial security, classified document control, or related roles.


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Working knowledge of NISPOM requirements and classified handling processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to compliance.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to provide training and interact professionally with program personnel and security staff.
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment and support more complex tasks under guidance when needed.
  • Experience with SIMS, and familiarity with NISS and DISS; candidates should be comfortable learning new systems quickly.
  • Experience using security management software and applications.
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities and time sensitive deliverables.
