Job Description

The Senior UX & Training Integration Specialist / Software Developer bridges user experience (UX), instructional design, and application development to ensure that federal client’s technical solutions are intuitive, adoptable, and operationally effective.

The ideal candidate will lead journey mapping, training integration with technical schools, and field validation through site visits, ensuring solutions are not just delivered - but fully understood and operationalized by end users. Modernization fails when users don’t adopt it.

This role ensures that every capability delivered is understood, usable, and embedded into client operations -where training, UX, and engineering converge to create real mission impact.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Enterprise network modernization (e.g., SD-WAN, secure wireless, identity services)

· Technical capability rollouts requiring user adoption at scale

· Integration with USCG training commands and technical schools

Focus areas include:

· User journey mapping across operational environments (cutter, shore, command centers)

· Embedding training into delivery lifecycle

· Improving usability and adoption of mission systems

User Experience (UX) & Journey Mapping
· Lead end-to-end journey mapping for USCG users across afloat (cutter environments), shore units and command centers

· Identify friction points in system access, training gaps and workflow inefficiencies

· Translate operational workflows into UX requirements, system improvements and training needs

Instructional Design & Training Integration
· Design and develop technical training programs aligned to client mission workflows and operational environments

· Integrate solutions into technical schools and training pipelines

· Develop instructor-led training (ILT), computer-based training (CBT) and quick reference guides / SOPs

· Align training with system deployment timelines (train-the-trainer, rollout support)

Application Development (UX-Driven)
· Design and develop user-centric applications and interfaces that support network operations, training delivery platforms and workflow automation tools

· Translate UX insights into functional requirements, UI/UX designs and working application features

· Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure seamless integration with back-end systems

Field Engagement & Site Visits
· Conduct on-site user research and validation at cutter locations, shore units and training centers

· Gather direct feedback from operators, technicians and instructors

· Validate system usability, training effectiveness and adoption barriers

Cybersecurity & Compliance
· Ensure all applications and training platforms align with RMF requirements, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) STIGs and federal cybersecurity policies

· Support ATO documentation and secure development practices

Stakeholder Engagement
· Interface with federal training command and program offices, operational units, prime contractor PMO and engineering teams

· Translate technical capabilities into user-understandable solutions

Delivery Integration
· Embed UX and training into the delivery lifecycle:

o Design ? Build ? Validate ? Train ? Deploy ? Sustain

· Ensure training is not an afterthought, but part of system engineering

Requirements

· Bachelor Degree in Human-Centered Design, Instructional Design, Computer Science, or related field

· 7-10+ years of experience across a combination of UX/UI Design, Instructional Design/Training Development and Application Development
