Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Staff Systems Engineer (Solution Chief) (26-121) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Located in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that allow an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations worldwide and regionally to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.
The Solution Chief is the Technical Authority responsible for providing engineering guidance and oversight into Agile Release Trains, while also fostering strong relationships with internal and external customer technical staff. This role requires proven communication skills, extensive collaboration in planning and execution, quick issue resolution, and a focus on building confidence and cohesion within the C2BMC National Team. As the overall leader, technical expert, and point of contact for the baseline on the Solutions Management Team, the chosen candidate will support the Solution Manager in identifying, establishing, and integrating the necessary capabilities within the scope of work.

Primary Level Salary Range: $161,000.00 - $241,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Will oversee the planning and execution of experimentation, digital design, enterprise development, integration, testing, analysis, and deployment of capabilities
- The chosen candidate is responsible for overseeing all activities in accordance with established compliance standards and program operating documentation
- This encompasses the management, identification, documentation, and handling of risks and opportunities
- Equally important will be the focus on a continuous improvement strategy that puts into practice activities such as lessons learned and causal analysis
- Process improvement initiatives and best practices aligned with the program vision
- Demonstrated leadership in developing large-scale software programs
- Experience with extensive, multi-domain Level C2 systems and their evolution
- Ability to quickly shape, adapt, and align customer needs with overall objectives in a fast-changing environment
- Recognized expert exhibiting an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness
- Applies and/or develops highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories, and concepts; often acts independently to resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of operational programs

Basic Qualifications:

- A Bachelor's Degree in STEM Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 12 years of experience; or a Master's degree ( preferred ) in a STEM-related field with 10 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related discipline with 8 years of relevant work experience
- Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance (with eligiblity for SCI) at the time of application, which is required to start
- Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs
- Previous leadership experience in the C2 domain with proven skills in software development
- Expert customer advocate with ability to work within a multi-faceted, multi-company team environment
- Familiar with and experienced in the full program development life cycle, including emerging digital environments for requirements, hardware, software, firmware, components, products, systems, integration and testing, operations, and sustainment
- Strong technical expertise in process development, including vision and strategy creation and execution, with the ability to communicate effectively to internal and external customers, leaders, and development teams
- Knowledge of Technical Performance Measures and experience in identifying, generating, and driving program success through metrics

- Master's Degree in Systems Engineering is highly preferred
- Graduate Certificate: Model-Based Systems Engineering (e.g., Stevens, Caltech, UCSD, USC, GWU, INCOSE cohort, etc.)
- Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
- Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Intermediate (OCSMP - MBI)
