Northrop Grumman is looking for an Accounting Services Director. This position will be located in Irving, Texas and offer partial telework. The Accounting Services Director will lead the Financial Shared Services teams supporting Northrop Grumman accounting processes. Accounting Services teams are located mainly in Texas, Minnesota, Virginia, and California have been aligned within a single organization and are managed by the Accounting Services Director.
Primary responsibilities for this role will include timely and accurate monthly accounting close, account reconciliations, material, inventory, payroll, labor, and intercompany accounting, restricted program accounting, continuous improvement to maintain reliable, efficient, and cost-effective processes, and collaboration/coordination with businesses and functions. This role requires significant experience and competency with successful system conversions and change management.
The Accounting Services Director will report to the Financial Shared Services Director and will be highly visible to executive leadership. The Accounting Services Director will be a key player in establishing a best-in-class Financial Shared Services team at Northrop Grumman.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Core Responsibilities:
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness in closing the ledgers, including month-end close, consolidation, reconciliations, and in all processes and services managed by the Accounting Services team.
- Provide operational management and leadership for the Northrop Grumman Accounting Services teams with approximately 110 staff and managers based mainly in Texas, Minnesota, Virginia, and California.
- Forge strong partnerships with business and functional leaders to understand key quality, regulatory, and service requirements. Use these relationships to develop pathways for regular, timely, and effective communication with business partners.
- Proactively champion and lead change management activities to ensure comprehensive adoption and acceptance of improvements, including engaging stakeholders and leaders, managing training and communications, governing implementation/stabilization, and performing post-implementation analysis.
- Develop, maintain, and document actionable metrics and KPIs. Leverage these to understand opportunities for improvement and lead remediation efforts.
- Own, monitor, and certify to the design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of accounting-related SOX controls.
- Guide employee development and education to ensure all employees in Accounting Services remain current on relevant processes and procedures.
- Empower and encourage employees to develop in their roles and their skill sets.
- Ensure all Accounting Services policies and manuals, organizational operating instructions, and desktop procedures are maintained and appropriately followed.
- Work with external financial auditors to support the annual audit and quarterly reviews.
- Work with internal audit and SOX compliance teams to ensure effective controls, compliance and governance process and monitor progress, risks/issues, and barriers and create applicable mitigation strategies.
- Take an active role in evolving the organization's processes, methodologies and capabilities; drive continuous standardization of process, with the objective of improving accounting process efficiency and related accounting quality.
- Lead by example and set the standard for professional behavior and excellent work habits that support a positive, inclusive, and progressive working environment.
- Focus on talent development and building a strong team.
- Provide regular feedback, including documented performance reviews.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or related field of study with 15+ years of relevant experience successfully leading accounting and related processes in large, complex, and rapidly changing organizations OR Master's degree in Business, Accounting, or related field of study with 10+ years of relevant experience successfully leading accounting and related processes in large, complex, and rapidly changing organizations
- 3+ years audit experience with a national public accounting firm in the US
- Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, or Chartered Global Management Accountant
- Significant experience with ERPs including processes, upgrades, troubleshooting, conversions, and implementations.
- Significant experience working with auditors and SOX compliance professionals.
- Demonstrated strategic and critical thought leadership.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (including Excel, pivot tables, and analysis techniques)
- Demonstrated experience in developing, leading, and executing comprehensive change management plans.
- Record of collaborating across organizational boundaries to understand best practices, with demonstrated success in influencing without direct authority.
