Description:Lockheed Martin's Space Metrology Operations is the backbone that guarantees our measurement and test equipment (M&TE) are calibrated and certified to the highest standards, enabling critical production milestones. We are seeking an enabling Senior Manager to provide strategic direction, operational oversight, and continuous improvement leadership for this high impact function to meet "Ramp to Rate" production goals. As a leader of leaders you will be in front of a large, geographically diverse team, forming and shaping our workforce by fostering an adaptive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Organizational Leadership - Drive leadership and organizational structure to optimize span of control, develop talent, and foster a performance focused culture.
• Strategic Partnerships - Build and nurture strong, collaborative relationships with Operations and ATLO centers; use data driven metrics to align metrology services with mission objectives and business goals.
• Cost Efficiency & Turn Around - Identify and implement cost saving initiatives that shrink turnaround time, reduce backlog, and minimize customer downtime. Champion cross BA intra work transfer agreements (IWTAs) to lower outsourcing expenses.
• Continuous Improvement - Formulate and execute short and long term improvement strategies, promoting systems thinking and sustainable excellence throughout Lockheed Martin's metrology ecosystem.
• External Collaboration - Partner with other LM Business Areas, 1LMx Owners, and Navy Strategic Weapons Facilities (SWFs) to standardize metrology processes, adopt best practices, and ensure interoperability across the defense community.
• Dashboard & Metrics Development - Design and deploy work center dashboards and reporting tools that empower teams to proactively manage calibration assets and prevent production interruptions.
• Financial Control - Drive and maintain labor, travel and capital budgets to ensure business success
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 15 years of metrology/manufacturing/operations or related experience
• Minimum of 10 years of prior leadership experience with demonstrated effective management with both hourly and salaried employees.
• Proven ability to develop and execute on enterprise affordability initiatives and process improvements
• Demonstrated change management and team-building skills
• Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance and US Citizenship required
Desired Skills:
• 10+ years of progressive leadership in metrology, quality control, equipment certification, calibration services, or high precision measurement environments (defense, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing)
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a technical discipline (e.g., engineering, math, physics, chemistry, etc.) or >15 years relevant industry/military experience
• Deep knowledge of calibration, certification, and traceability standards (e.g., NIST, ISO/IEC 17025)
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and external partners (e.g., Navy SWFs, other Business Areas, Program Management)
• Ability to proactively communicate and motivate (including presentation and customer interface skills) and ability to mentor and develop employee skills
• Proven track record of Lean/Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar methodologies including dashboards, KPIs, and data driven decision support tools to drive efficiency and cost reductions.
• Demonstrated knowledge of AS9100 Quality System requirements
• Current Top Secret Clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $138,100 - $243,455. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $158,800 - $275,195. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
