Job Description

Duties
Help
  • Responsible for developing, revising and conducting course instruction on numerous military behavioral health subject-matter areas comparable to undergraduate and graduate course work.
  • Conducts course instruction on evidence-based public health approaches to suicide prevention, mental health treatment, sexual assault, interpersonal violence, Servicemember and family support services and leadership.
  • Plans, adapts, and develops educational materials, instructional formats, and conducts teaching activities according to DA and DOD policies and practices for DBHS and other affiliated Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE) courses.
  • Coordinates curriculum development and participates in faculty committees aimed at addressing gaps in military behavioral health training.
  • Prepares conference request documents and after-action reports for higher headquarters and assists in the preparation and coordination of travel requirements needed for course delivery.
  • Conducts quality improvement studies, develops logic models, and course evaluation methods for all assigned courses.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist (Instructor) position:

Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service that includes consulting and instructing of course materials in the professional fields of psychology and behavioral health sciences. Recognizing modifications to the planning and delivery of course materials and anticipate unscheduled changes to suit the needs of the program. Experience in evidence-based clinical psychotherapeutic approaches to treat and prevent complex mental health conditions such as Post traumatic Stress Disorders, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Sleep Disorders and Substance Use Disorders. Developing and delivering suicide prevention presentations, workshops, and other curriculum-based learning tools in online and in-person delivery formats to include presenting multi-day, evidence-based psychotherapy (EBP) workshops.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Licensure Requirement: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently from a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.
