Primus Aerospace is currently seeking a Junior Buyer to join our team at our Maryland facility.
Primus Aerospace is a leading manufacturing partner to aerospace, defense & space OEMs / Primes & Tier I suppliers. The company specializes in producing high-tolerance, complex geometry parts machined from standard and exotic metals. Primus supports major aerospace programs with companies such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman.
Job Purpose:
The Junior Buyer will support the procurement team in sourcing raw materials, hardware, and outside processing services in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to learn supply chain fundamentals, develop vendor relationships, and grow into a full Buyer role.
You will work closely with senior team members and be trained on all aspects of purchasing, supplier communication, and production support.

You will work closely with senior team members and be trained on all aspects of purchasing, supplier communication, and production support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in sending RFQs and gathering supplier quotes for materials and outside processing
- Support purchase order creation and tracking to ensure on-time delivery to production
- Monitor order status and communicate updates to internal teams
- Help expedite materials and services when needed to support production schedules
- Maintain accurate records of supplier commitments, pricing, and lead times
- Assist in resolving supplier issues such as delays, documentation, or quality concerns
- Support inventory and material planning activities using ERP/MRP systems
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal teams
- Learn cost analysis, negotiation basics, and supplier performance tracking
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Maintain ≥95% on-time delivery for all hardware, paint, adhesives, and consumables to support production and assembly schedules (month-over-month)
- Ensure zero line stoppages attributable to missing purchased components (hardware, consumables, or outside services)
- Maintain accurate and timely PO updates and status communication (≥95% accuracy)
- Achieve favorable pricing vs. quoted budgets through supplier follow-ups and quote comparison support
- Support reduction in expedite frequency by improving planning and supplier follow-ups
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field (or graduating soon)
- Internship or prior exposure to manufacturing or supply chain is a plus, but not required
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
