Position Overview
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Radar Systems Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and verification of advanced radar systems. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in radar signal processing, AESA systems, and system-level engineering practices, contributing across the full system lifecycle-from concept and requirements definition through test and verification.
This position is targeted at a Level 3 Engineer (5+ years of experience), though strong Level 2 candidates (2-5 years of experience) will be considered.
Salary for a Level 3 is $95,000-$120,000 dependent on experience.
Salary for a Level 2 is $75,000-$90,000 dependent on experience.

Key Responsibilities
Systems Engineering & Architecture
- Develop and manage radar system requirements using DOORS, MBSE, and SysML methodologies.
- Perform system architecture development, decomposition, and allocation across hardware and software elements.
- Conduct trade studies to evaluate design alternatives, performance margins, and technology options.
- Support requirements verification, validation, and traceability throughout the radar lifecycle.
Radar Design & Analysis
- Design and analyze radar signal-processing algorithms, including detection, tracking, and estimation techniques.
- Develop MATLAB/Simulink models to evaluate radar performance, waveform behavior, and system-level metrics.
- Support AESA radar development, including beam-forming, array performance analysis, and hardware/software interaction.
Integration, Test & Verification
- Lead or support end-to-end subsystem integration, ensuring compatibility across radar hardware, firmware, and software.
- Develop test plans, procedures, and success criteria for radar system verification and validation.
- Support lab, ground, and field testing; analyze results and provide performance assessments and recommendations.
Required Qualifications
Level 3 (Preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in radar systems engineering or a closely related field.
Level 2 (Acceptable)
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience with radar systems, signal processing, or system-level engineering.
Technical Skills (All Levels)
- Strong background in radar signal processing and algorithm development.
- Experience with AESA radar systems, including beam-forming concepts.
- Extensive proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for modeling, simulation, and performance analysis.
- Experience with requirements management and MBSE tools (DOORS, SysML preferred).
- Familiarity with system integration, verification methodologies, and test development.
Additional Desired Skills
- Experience supporting defense or intelligence programs.
- Understanding of model-based trade analysis and performance budgeting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and reviews.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

- Active Secret Clearance required. Ability to maintain clearance eligibility is mandatory.
