Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to support complex space-based and ground electronic systems in Boulder, CO. This role provides hands-on electrical systems engineering across the full design lifecycle, including requirements development, architecture definition, integration, test, and verification. The ideal candidate brings strong systems thinking, cross-disciplinary collaboration skills, and experience supporting spacecraft, instruments, and ground systems.

Responsibilities:
- Provide electrical systems engineering support for spacecraft (bus and payloads), instruments, and ground systems.
- Lead and manage electrical requirements including ownership, derivation, allocation, verification, and validation.
- Support assembly, integration, test, and verification (AIT/AIV) planning, execution, and documentation across the design lifecycle.
- Develop and flow down electrical subsystem, box-level, and board-level requirements for space-based and ground architectures.
- Develop and maintain electrical Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Perform power budget analysis, harness design, grounding diagrams, EMI/EMC compliance analysis, and environmental compliance inputs.
- Collaborate across engineering disciplines to develop and refine electrical architectures and Electrical Functional Block Diagrams.
- Work closely with mechanical and thermal teams on box-level requirements definition.
- Coordinate with systems and EMI/EMC teams to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Incorporate electrical system data into the Engineering System of Record, including ICDs and internal block diagrams (IBDs).
- Support requirements compliance, traceability, and verification across system levels.
- Participate in program risk and opportunity assessments, supporting mitigation strategies and opportunity capture.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to peers, leadership, and customers.
- Enable task execution across teams and resolve issues blocking progress.
Qualifications:
- Clearance: TS/SCI
- Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Experience supporting electrical systems engineering for space-based or complex electronic systems.
- Strong understanding of board-level electronics including digital, analog, power, FPGA design, and packaging.
- Experience reviewing electronics test plans, methods, and results.
- Knowledge of power systems, grounding, EMI/EMC, harnessing, and environmental compliance.
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies, including Cameo.
- Understanding of system engineering processes, requirements traceability, and verification methods.
- Knowledge of root-of-trust and chain-of-trust concepts and their implementation in firmware and software.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Work Environment:
- Full-time, on-site role in Boulder, CO supporting space mission development activities with close integration across engineering disciplines.
Compensation:
- Pay Band: $130,000 - $200,000 (based on years of applicable experience)
