Job Description
Senior Network Engineer
• Clearance: Active TS.
• Location: On-site at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB)
• Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement and more
• Certification: Professional required; Expert-level preferred
What This Job Feels Like
• Balance among architecture, engineering, and support that changes as projects and priorities dictate.
• Worthwhile efforts that provide a constant source of non-repetitive challenges, with no long-term boredom.
• Owning network systems and projects and follow them through part or all their lifecycles.
• High OPTEMPO - individuals must be able to self-manage task lists based on communicated priorities
What You’ll Do
• Architect, engineer, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise networks (multi-vendor but Cisco-heavy, multi-site, dense with technology). This includes network security.
• Lead root cause analysis for outages and performance issues.
• Engaging teams with other expertise on relevant projects and systems.
• Communicate issues clearly to teammates and leadership and collaborate on resolution.
• Mentor less-senior engineers and technicians.
Tech Knowledge / Skills
• Deep understanding of layer 4 and below
• Expertise and experience with an array of the hardware/software that are primarily associated with those layers: Route/switch, Firewalls, VPNs, SDN, and plenty more. Depth and breadth are both desired, but there is no expectation of ubiquity (or necessarily Ubiquiti)
Requirements
• 8+ years network engineering experience in secure/cleared environments
• Active TS clearance
• Professional certification required; Expert-level preferred (CCIE, JNCIE, etc)
• Experience with progressive responsibilities that amount to “senior”
