Job Description
We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer with DevOps exposure to support a long-term federal project with the FAA. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in test automation and Linux who is looking to grow their skills in CI/CD and DevOps practices within a mission-critical environment.
You’ll work closely with development, DevOps, and security teams to support and validate automated deployments, infrastructure, and software delivery pipelines in an Agile environment.
Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a United States Citizen. Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. Job Title: QA Automation / Systems Engineer (DevOps Exposure)
Location: Gaithersburg, MD (Onsite – flexibility possible over time) with 25% travel
Duration: Long-term contract (5 years)
Clearance: Must be eligible for Public Trust (U.S. Citizen)
What You’ll Do
• Develop and execute automated test scripts using Python and/or Bash
• Support and validate CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins) to ensure reliable deployments
• Work in Linux environments to validate builds, troubleshoot issues, and review logs
• Assist with infrastructure and configuration validation (Ansible)
• Collaborate with DevOps and development teams in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Identify, document, and track defects using JIRA
• Support system, integration, and regression testing
• Help ensure systems meet basic security and compliance standards
• Document testing processes and best practices
Required Qualifications
• 2–5 years of experience in QA, Automation, or DevOps support roles
• Experience with Python or Bash scripting
• Working knowledge of Linux (RedHat preferred)
• Exposure to CI/CD tools (Jenkins preferred)
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Strong communication and troubleshooting skills
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
Nice to Have
• Exposure to Ansible or configuration management tools
• Basic knowledge of AWS or cloud environments
• Familiarity with DevSecOps or security best practices
• Experience with Git, JIRA, or similar tools
• Interest in growing into a DevOps Engineer role
