The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base, California is searching for a Personnel Security Specialist (NH-0080-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).
Description:
Join the Space Systems Command team and play a crucial role in safeguarding national security. We acquire and field advanced space-based solutions to protect the United States and its allies. This position provides essential personnel security support and oversight to ensure that only the most trustworthy individuals are involved in integrating these critical space capabilities. Your expertise will help preserve the nation's secrets and ensure the long-term success of our mission.
The ideal candidate will possess an in-depth knowledge of Space Systems Command and a demonstrated ability to effectively lead, motivate, and guide a workforce within a dynamic organizational structure. This role requires a mastery of problem-solving and the ability to understand and resolve complex issues, coupled with exceptional oral and written communication skills. A crucial aspect of this position is the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with key individuals and groups, including senior leaders and field-level representatives, and to provide them with expert advice. Candidates must hold a current Top-Secret clearance and be intimately familiar with Special Access Program (SAP) security processes, including knowledge of the JADE system of record. A bachelor's degree is preferred, complemented by proven leadership experience, at least five years supporting SAP programs, and both the Security Professional Education Development (SPēD) Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and the Special Program Security Certification (SPSC).

- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with SCI access.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
- Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) required.
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
- Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
