Help

As a Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) at the GS-2210-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Manages the DINFOS Risk Management Framework (RMF) by developing and updating risk analyses, vulnerability assessments, and mitigation strategies.
  • Tracks agency issued Communications Tasking Orders, coordinates messages and Information Assurances (IA) Alerts.
  • Stays abreast of emergent IA threats, as well as industry and agency responses to threats.
  • Recommend IA procedures or technology enhancements to the Branch Chiefs and the Director of Plans & Technology.
  • Ensures software patches and mitigations are applied, and configuration data in an agency continuous Monitoring and Risk Scoring (CMRS) database is current.
  • Provides management and oversight of the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) at DINFOS to allow for reporting of vulnerabilities and compliance.

  • This is a Defense Cyber Workforce Position. Must be able to meet DoD Directive 8140.03 requirements applicable to the duties of the position.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Developing, implementing, and managing a computer network defense program, including policies, procedures, and standards per industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing technical expertise to implement and maintain required cybersecurity and Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Developing and updating risk analyses, vulnerability checks, and mitigations/correction in order to maintain Information Technology team's focus on computer security throughout all IT support functions.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 2210 series.

You must have Information Technology (IT)-related experience which demonstrates proficiency in each of the following four competencies listed below:

1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

Foreign education may be qualifying if a private organization specializing in interpreting foreign education programs has deemed the foreign education equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program or a U.S. accredited college or university has given full credit for the foreign courses.

Unofficial transcripts from U.S. Department of Education accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions listing your name, the name of the school, the date and degree awarded, and the list of classes and credits earned are acceptable for the application process. If selected, official transcripts are required before a firm job offer is made. A photocopy of your degree/diploma is not acceptable.

When relying on foreign education, submit transcripts and a copy of the equivalency evaluation results letter with a course-by-course listing.
