We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Head of Product and Performance Marketing to build and lead a function serving highly regulated and mission-critical industries. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the defense and commercial sectors, including government contracting, DoW and Fed/Civ procurement processes, B2G (business-to-government) and B2B (business-to-business) marketing strategies as well as proven experience building high-performing teams, standing up demand generation engines, and implementing marketing technology solutions that deliver measurable pipeline and revenue impact.
This leader will play a pivotal role in shaping and expanding BigBear.ai's creative identity and brand story - enhancing credibility with government stakeholders, broadening appeal in commercial markets, and positioning the company as a trusted authority in AI-driven decision intelligence. This role partners closely with the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, who oversees overall brand identity and reputation building and defense, to ensure alignment between brand, go-to-market strategy, and enterprise narrative, while maintaining clear accountability, including the company's digital presence, sponsorships, customer events, product marketing and broader sales enablement activity.
This role requires not only the ability to develop and execute campaigns that drive brand awareness, support business development, and align with federal acquisition and compliance standards, but also the leadership and relationship-management skills to collaborate effectively with executive stakeholders, product teams, and business development. What you will do
Marketing Strategy & Leadership
- Own enterprise product & performance marketing strategy
- Support business development goals, spanning brand, demand generation, partnerships, capture management and market expansion
- Translate corporate and product strategy into scalable go-to-market execution
- Establish clear success metrics tied to pipeline influence, market penetration, and brand lift
- Build and scale high-performing teams across branding, content, digital, and demand generation, while establishing marketing capabilities that deliver measurable pipeline growth and support expansion into commercial markets.
- Integrate and optimize marketing technology stack solutions to enable data-driven execution, performance tracking, and clear marketing ROI.
Brand Positioning & Messaging
- Partner to define and drive BigBear.ai's brand architecture, visual identity, and messaging frameworks across defense, IC, and commercial markets
- Ensure a coherent, differentiated identity across products, platforms, partnerships, and customer touchpoints
- Lead product value propositions, use-case articulation, and market segmentation aligned to long sales cycles
- Govern brand consistency across campaigns, digital experiences, and sales enablement material
B2G & B2B Campaigns
- Design integrated GTM motions aligned to long sales cycles, capture strategies, and partner ecosystems
- Ensure campaigns reinforce long-term credibility and trust in regulated markets, not just short-term demand
- Manage relationships with agency partners, oversee setting and execution of campaign related KPIs against business goals
- Align sponsorships, events, and partnerships to strategic growth priorities
Digital Marketing & Thought Leadership
- Manage digital presence including website, social media, and SEO/SEM strategies with a focus on industry-specific content and compliance.
- Represent the company at trade shows, defense expos, and industry conferences.
Market Intelligence
- Analyze competitor positioning, defense budgets, procurement forecasts, and customer trends to inform marketing and capture strategies.
- Leverage market research to identify new opportunities within the defense and national security landscape.
Compliance & Ethics
- Ensure all marketing activities align with ITAR, DFARS, FAR, SEC and other applicable government and industry regulations.
- Maintain integrity and accuracy in all public and customer-facing materials.
What you need to have
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 10+ years of marketing leadership experience with a preference for at least 5 years in the defense, aerospace, or government contracting sector, including building demand generation programs and scaling high-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of the U.S. DoW, IC, and federal acquisition lifecycle.
- Proven success leading B2G or B2B marketing teams in a high-compliance environment with hands-on martech and marketing operations expertise to ensure measurable ROI.
- Exceptional leadership, project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
What we'd like you to have
- Experience working with or marketing to agencies such as DoW, DHS, the IC, or defense primes (e.g., Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, GDIT).
- Familiarity with proposal development and supporting large-scale capture efforts.
- Existing relationships in the defense industry ecosystem.
- Experience with government procurement portals (e.g., SAM.gov, GSA schedules).
