Senior Systems Administrator
Location: Chantilly, VA (On-Site / Customer Site)

Position Overview
RogueThink has an opening for a Senior Systems Administrator with Cloud Experience to support a classified federal program in Chantilly, VA. This role provides Engineering and Administrative support for a team of developers and testers operating in a mission-driven environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable deviating from industry standard procedures to meet mission needs while maintaining rigorous system security standards, and brings deep hands-on experience across AWS, hybrid-cloud, and enterprise Linux/Windows environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide Engineering and Administrative support onsite for a team of developers and testers, adapting approaches to meet mission-specific requirements while maintaining strict system security standards
• Work as part of a team to design, build, and maintain AWS and hybrid-cloud systems.
• Administer systems based on Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot IP networking systems for AWS and hybrid-cloud environments.
• Automate system deployment, operation, and maintenance using Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management tooling.
• Maintain and update system documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and configuration baselines.
• Perform patch management, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening in accordance with program security standards.
• Support RMF, ATO, SSP, and BoE cybersecurity compliance documentation and audit activities.
• Collaborate with security, network, and development teams to ensure system integrity and operational continuity.
• Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning and testing.
• Support ITIL-based service management workflows for incident, change, problem, and configuration management.
Required Qualifications
• Must be a US citizen with an active TS/SCI with FSP
• Experience with designing, deploying, and administering cloud-based solutions.
• Experience with architecture, maintenance, and administration of Linux and Windows Operating Systems within large enterprise environments.
• Experience with automating tasks using tools such as Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, Puppet, or Python.
• Proven experience working within IT Systems Design, Deployment, and Administration.
• SME or Expert-level experience in systems administration in a classified or mission-critical environment.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, and routing protocols.
• Familiarity with RMF, ATO, and SSP documentation requirements.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex infrastructure issues independently.
Preferred Qualifications
• Cloud service certification (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google, or similar).
• Experience managing and manipulating containers (e.g., PODMAN, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Extensive experience designing, deploying, and troubleshooting IPv4 Networking, including Subnetting, OSPF Routing, VLANs, and VPNs.
• Knowledge of cloud database management (e.g., MySQL RDS and PostgreSQL).
• Experience with one or more programming languages.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices in the context of cloud environments.
• Comfortable working in an Agile development environment.
• Recent experience in Technical or Team Leadership positions.
