Job Description

The UAS Data & Geospatial Technician will support the Presidential/Joint Systems IPT by conducting precision aerial data acquisition. This role focuses on the integration and operation of LiDAR and GIS sensors on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to create highly accurate digital twins, terrain models, and situational awareness products for executive and joint-force decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) for UAV missions utilizing LiDAR scanners, multispectral cameras, and high-resolution EO/IR sensors.
  • Execute complex flight patterns designed specifically for LiDAR point cloud density and GIS photogrammetry requirements.
  • Perform immediate quality control (QC) of collected data in the field to ensure mission objectives are met.
  • Utilize industry-standard software (e.g., ArcGIS, Pix4D, Cyclone, or TopoDOT) to process raw sensor data into actionable GIS products, 3D models, and topographic maps.
  • Perform routine maintenance on specialized payloads and UAV platforms to ensure readiness for frequent travel deployments.
  • Manage the transport of sensitive and high-value sensor equipment under TSA and military transport regulations.
  • Assist in drafting technical reports, presentations, and procedures.
  • Support cross-functional teams through active participation, communication, and professional input.

Qualifications

  • Active FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
  • Proficiency with enterprise-grade platforms (e.g., DJI M300/M350 RTK, Harris Aerial, or Blue UAS-cleared systems like Skydio/Freefly).
  • Experience operating LiDAR (e.g., Velodyne, Riegl, or YellowScan) and managing large geospatial datasets.
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.
    • Ability to acquire an active Secret clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to support joint exercises and executive-site surveys.
  • Ability to work outdoors in diverse climates and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
