  • Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Medical Readiness Program ensuring program comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.
  • Coordinate with other entities to identify hazards and threats to the MTF (Military Treatment Facility), update MTF plans and procedures, and disseminate to working groups and leadership.
  • Develop criteria for exercise contingency responses plans, checklists, program reviews, and quality assurance reviews.
  • Conduct inspections and audit to measure the effectiveness of the various medical readiness functions in meeting goals and objectives, contingency response practices, and planning.
  • Research and determine or recommend actions or interpretation of issues that impact the organization.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for base-level Home Station Medical Response (HSMR) requirements related to Medical Counter-Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (MC-CBRN) sustainment.
  • Plan and manage the Medical Readiness Training Program by working with readiness response teams in the development, execution, and monitoring of training programs.
  • Train personnel as needed on how to input training completion into the Medical Readiness Training Program's system-of-records and access training requirements.
  • Identify unit Medical Readiness Program resource requirements for inclusion in the unit Program Objective Memorandum (POM) and Execution Year budget submission.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

  • This position is designated as Mission Essential in the event of severe weather conditions, other such emergency type situations, nature or man-made disaster the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work to support missions.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete the Medical Readiness Management Course (MRMC) IAW DAFI 41-106's paragraph 2.2 guidance within 6 months from employment.
  • Incumbent must complete the initial level of the Public Health Emergency Management Course (PHEM) within one year of designation as an MEM and complete sustainment training every subsequent 4 years in the role IAW DoDI 6200.03's paragraph 4.b.
  • Frequent shifts in working hours and extended periods of overtime may be required. Night or weekend shifts can be expected if situation warrants immediate medical contingency response action.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away (approximately 5% of time) from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting planning, organizing, and directing the Medical Readiness Program ensuring program comply with legal and regulatory requirements, monitoring unit emergency response program operations and requirement, and conducting inspections to measure the effectiveness of the various medical readiness functions or managing the Medical Readiness Training Program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Health, Emergency Management or Homeland Security, Medical Readiness, Program Management.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Additional information

  • U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
  • If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Reg 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.
