Summary
Our team is seeking a motivated college intern who is passionate about data, eager to learn, and interested in pursuing a career as a Database Administrator (DBA) or Data Engineer. This internship provides hands-on experience across our Microsoft centric data environment, including SQL Server administration, Azure Data Factory pipelines, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Snowflake. The intern will work closely with senior DBAs and data engineers to support both operational database tasks and modern Data Lakehouse development.

This role offers a rare blend of traditional DBA experience and modern data engineering exposure. You'll gain practical skills across the full data lifecycle - from managing mission critical SQL Server systems to building scalable pipelines in a cloud based Data Lakehouse environment. By the end of the internship, you'll have Hands-on experience with tools and practices used by professional data teams across the industry.

- Data engineering workflows using Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Snowflake
- Data modeling and transformation using dbt
- Best practices for data governance, documentation, and operational reliability
- How a modern Data Lakehouse architecture supports analytics and business intelligence

- Assist DBAs with routine SQL Server tasks including health checks, index maintenance, job monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Help build, test, and maintain data pipelines in Azure Data Factory and Snowflake
- Support ingestion, organization, and optimization of data in Azure Data Lake Storage
- Contribute to dbt models and transformations under guidance from senior engineers
- Participate in code reviews, documentation updates, and team knowledge sharing sessions
- Collaborate with team members to diagnose and resolve data quality or performance issues
- Perform exploratory analysis and validation of datasets used in analytics and reporting
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field
- Basic understanding of SQL
- Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language (Python preferred)
- Strong analytical thinking and willingness to learn new technologies
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to relational databases or cloud data tools
- Coursework or personal projects involving Python, PowerShell, or data engineering concepts
- Interest in database administration, data engineering, or cloud platforms
