Overview
Nakupuna Companies is seeking an Environmental System Operations and Maintenance (ESOM) Technician to support the Bureau of Engraving and Printing's Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth, Texas. This position supports the Environmental Engineering Branch through the safe, clean, efficient operation and preventive maintenance of air pollution control devices and associated environmental systems during production hours. The ESOM Technician also supports environmental compliance activities by collecting and entering data, assisting with inspections and reporting, tracking maintenance schedules, and supporting project estimating and related operational requirements.

- Support the safe, clean, efficient, and reliable operation and preventive maintenance of air pollution control devices and associated environmental systems during production hours
- Assist with ensuring assigned systems operate in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, permits, codes, and ordinances
- Collect, track, and enter data needed for environmental compliance reporting, inspections, permitting requirements, and Environmental Management System documentation
- Assist with maintaining schedules for preventive maintenance, inspections, and operational checks for assigned systems
- Support the operation and maintenance of equipment such as regenerative thermal oxidizers, wet scrubbers, baghouse systems, cyclones, and related conveyance or exhaust systems
- Help prepare time, labor, and material estimates for maintenance or construction-related work
- Assist with reviewing material and labor needs and supporting vendor or subcontractor coordination to help identify cost-effective solutions
- Communicate equipment or system issues that may affect operations, safety, compliance, or production continuity
- Maintain accurate records and documentation associated with operations, maintenance, and environmental support activities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Skills/Qualifications
- Knowledge of general industrial maintenance and construction practices, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting
- Experience supporting industrial equipment maintenance, preferably with air pollution control devices or similar process equipment
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and basic construction methods
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work, solve problems, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
- Strong customer service, teamwork, and analytical skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard data-entry or reporting tools
- Ability to work effectively in both office and industrial settings
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field, with up to 3 years of relevant experience; or
- Associate degree with 4 years of relevant experience; or
- 6 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree
Clearance
- You must maintain an active Public Trust/Confidential security clearance for continued employment
- Must be a U.S. citizen
Location
- Work is performed on Government site at the BEP Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth, Texas, with work primarily during normal operating hours
- Occasional off-shift support may be required for inspections, maintenance activities, or environmental events
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in both office and industrial settings, including walking long distances on the production floor and climbing stairs or ladders for inspections
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, and respiratory protection, as needed
