Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Specialist / Application Tester to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications supporting enterprise and mission-critical systems. This role is responsible for validating system functionality, identifying defects, and ensuring applications meet both technical requirements and user expectations.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in manual and automated testing, test planning, and defect management, with the ability to collaborate closely with developers, engineers, and stakeholders. This position plays a key role in improving software quality, supporting system integration, and ensuring consistent delivery of secure and high-performing applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts for software applications.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing across applications and environments.
• Identify, document, and track defects using issue tracking tools, ensuring timely resolution.
• Validate software against functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Support automated testing efforts, including development and execution of test scripts.
• Collaborate with developers and engineers to troubleshoot issues and improve software quality.
• Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Perform user acceptance testing (UAT) and support release validation activities.
• Ensure applications meet performance, security, and usability standards.
• Maintain test documentation, reports, and quality metrics.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
• 6+ years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or application testing.
• Experience developing and executing manual and automated test cases.
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
• Experience with defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla, or similar).
• Experience testing web-based and/or enterprise applications.
• Understanding of test methodologies, including functional, regression, and integration testing.
• Basic knowledge of scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Equivalent work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with test automation frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, or similar).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps environments.
• Experience with API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured).
• Knowledge of performance and load testing tools.
Preferred Certifications
• ISTQB Certified Tester
• Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA)
• Agile or Scrum certification (CSM or equivalent)
