Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, and sustainment of complex IT systems across enterprise and mission-critical environments. This role focuses on ensuring system performance, reliability, scalability, and security through effective engineering, integration, and lifecycle management practices.
The ideal candidate will have experience working across infrastructure, applications, and network layers, with the ability to translate requirements into technical solutions and support system integration across cloud and on-premise environments. This position requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver stable and secure systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and implement system architectures across enterprise IT environments.
• Integrate hardware, software, and network components to ensure interoperability and performance.
• Analyze system requirements and translate them into technical solutions and designs.
• Support system lifecycle activities including development, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain uptime and reliability.
• Support system integration across cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, including architecture diagrams and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and cybersecurity teams to ensure system security and compliance.
• Identify and implement system improvements, automation, and optimization opportunities.
• Support configuration management, patching, and system upgrades.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, integration, or infrastructure support.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, networking, and infrastructure components.
• Experience with operating systems such as Windows and/or Linux.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• Experience integrating systems across hardware, software, and network environments.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar).
• Experience with system monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Understanding of configuration management and system lifecycle processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Equivalent work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of cybersecurity practices and compliance frameworks.
Preferred Certifications
• AWS / Azure / Google Cloud certifications
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
• CompTIA Security+
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
