We are looking for a SATCOM Technician FSR (OCONUS)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
The primary responsibility of the Field Service Representative (FSR) is providing support as a Satellite Installer and Maintainer. FSRs will ensure an operational and properly functioning satellite-based communications system for government and military users. FSRs will staff a 24/7 help desk and will perform on-site support as an extension of the help desk and logistician at remote locations. In this role, we will rely on your out-of-the-box thinking and self-motivated personality to provide high quality support to our AISR customers.
Install and de-install on-way and two-way satellite-based communications systems at user locations, as needed
Provide 24/7 Help Desk support in theater to end-users
Assist satellite operators in maintaining an operational and properly function system
Perform alignment of satellite dishes
Travel to end-user locations for inventory, repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, training and upgrade of end-user satellite systems
Maintain on-site spare parts inventory for the repair/upgrade on deployed systems
Complete Trip Reports within 5 calendar days of site visits
Ensure paperwork is completed promptly and accurately, such as DD1150 for provided equipment
Input call log data in the Help Desk call log tracking system
Perform test and evaluation for all satellite-based communication electronic equipment requiring repair – requires the use of multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and cable testers
Evaluate system outages and provide detailed descriptions through a tiered level of support structure
Install firmware/software updates and patches on equipment, as required
Develop and/or refine formal practices and procedures for the operational fielding and maintenance/tracking of DISA sponsored technologies
Work a 7x12 shift (am/pm) as assigned
All other duties and tasks assigned
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
U.S. Citizen
Must possess a Top Secret or interim Top Secret clearance
Must have or be able to obtain rapidly a valid U.S. Passport
Must have a valid driver's license
Must have the ability to lift 75 pounds
Ability to meet physical and medical requirements as administered by CRC
Working knowledge of industry best practices
Understand and practice OPSEC and demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and other Microsoft programs
Strong work ethic and team player
High degree of professionalism
Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
Ability to effectively communicate with various levels of clients, management, employees, vendors, etc.
Strong initiative with a willingness to offer suggestions, recommendations and ideas
Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills required
Must have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, as well as the ability to effectively prioritize tasks
Must have the ability to read, write and speak English.
Ability to effectively communicate with government customers and members of active military
Ability to gather facts and effectively analyze telecommunications and networking component interrelationships and evaluate systems, peripherals, applications, and services from an operational and sustainment perspective
Develop concepts and methods to test and troubleshoot equipment and network problems
Specific Experience
Formal Training and expertise in two-way satellite-based communications (iDirect/DVB-RCS or similar)
Must also be familiar with IP communications, video encoders/decoders, encryption COMSEC devices, computer hardware and Cisco routers and switches
Two (2) years’ experience working in a tactical environment
Minimum of 4 years of VSAT or similar satellite service experience
Assembly and alignment of satellite antenna dishes
Use of spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and cable testers
Must currently have or be able to obtain the following required certifications within 1 year from date of hire:
Security +
Network +
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
HOURS & PAY
The Field Service Representative shall work 12 hour shifts 7 days a week averaging an 84-hour work week. Our salary is commensurate with experience, certifications, education & location.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work location is 100% OCONUS.
The work will be performed in support of U.S. forces deployed in an operational combat zone and/or support area and in austere conditions for extended periods of time. May be required to travel to adjacent AOs in support of deployed forces.
