Facilities Operations Support Specialist
This position requires an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance to be considered.
A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify.
The Facilities Operations Support Specialist, independently and solely, provides facilities management support for Missile Defense Agency (MDA) facilities at Vandenberg SFB. This role protects the physical and functional integrity of assigned buildings through daily oversight of maintenance and repair activities, proactive inspections, strong customer interface, emergency readiness support, and accurate documentation in Government systems.
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Facilities Operations Support Specialist: Pay commensurate with experience.

Facilities Operations Support Specialist Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate and schedule maintenance and repair activities to sustain facility operations and protect building integrity.
- Maintain working knowledge of the operations and functions conducted within assigned facilities.
- Maintain general working knowledge of facility systems, including electrical power distribution, HVAC, Building Automation System (BAS), elevators, water, sewer, fire protection, and unique systems/equipment that impact occupancy and operations.
- Serve as the daily interface with the Government regional manager, Government facility manager, operations managers, and facility occupants.
- Act as the focal point of contact for facility maintenance, event support, VIP visits, vendor escorting, and other facility-impacting activities.
- Manages requests for repair of facility systems and equipment; track actions to completion and follow up on unresolved or recurring deficiencies and work orders.
- Serve as the point of contact for work performed by outside contractors and coordinate access, execution, and closeout.
- Conduct recurring daily walk-through inspections; document deficiencies and drive corrective actions.
- Receive, review, and act on facility inspection reports; ensure findings are addressed and recorded.
- Report safety, environmental, and health violations; support or represent facility interests on safety, environmental, and operations committees as required.
- Support emergency plans and response actions (fire protection, bomb threat, medical, severe weather, flooding, evacuation, and other contingencies).
- Ensure appropriate facility signage is posted and maintained.
- Assess occupant satisfaction with facility services and elevate issues for resolution.
- Ensure sustainment, maintenance, repair, and operations documentation is recorded in Government-provided recordkeeping systems.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Facilities Operations Support Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Prior experience in a general maintenance or facilities support role (entry/lower level).
- Working familiarity with common building systems (HVAC, electrical, fire protection, water/sewer, BAS, elevators) and how they affect building operations.
- Strong communication and customer service skills; ability to work directly with Government personnel, vendors, and facility occupants.
- Ability to perform daily walk-through inspections and clearly document issues and follow-through actions.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn Government work order/recordkeeping systems.
- DoD installation or mission-support facility experience.
- Ability to work 100% onsite at Vandenberg SFB and provide after-hours support as needed.
- Frequent walking, standing, and inspections across facilities, including mechanical/electrical spaces; ability to climb stairs and access constrained areas as needed.
- Valid state driver's license and ability to operate GSA vehicles as required.
- May support time-sensitive tasks during outages, emergencies, or high-visibility events.
