Job Description
FWI is building a team to support the U.S. Department of Labor in advancing AI skills development through Registered Apprenticeship programs by expanding AI literacy across all industries, growing RA programs in AI-centric occupations, and strengthening the workforce pipeline for AI infrastructure. As the Project Director, you will provide senior strategic leadership for the entire contract and serve as the primary point of contact with the Office of Apprenticeship on all deliverables, performance, and project direction.

Work Schedule and Location:
Remote: This part-time remote position will work approximately 10 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Own the relationship with the Office of Apprenticeship and serve as the primary point of contact for all contract deliverables and performance
- Provide strategic direction to a multidisciplinary team of SMEs, analysts, trainers, and support staff
- Oversee project budgets, work plans, timelines, and quality across four major task areas
- Coordinate with State Apprenticeship Agencies, DOL-funded intermediaries, and other national workforce partners
- Ensure all deliverables meet federal standards for quality, plain language, and 508 compliance
- Attend progress meetings, post-award conferences, and intermediary orientations
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's + 8 years of relevant experience, or 10+ years without a degree
- Hands-on experience with the Registered Apprenticeship system - you know 29 CFR Part 29, program standards, and how OA works
- Track record managing federal workforce development contracts, including COR relationships and performance reporting
- Experience leading teams on complex, multi-stakeholder national initiatives
- Comfort engaging C-suite executives, industry associations, and federal/state agency leaders
Desired:
- Prior work on a DOL Office of Apprenticeship intermediary contract is a strong plus
- Familiarity with AI technologies and their workforce applications is preferred
