Job Description

The Senior Configuration Data Management (CDM) Manager is a strategic leader responsible for managing the government CDM team and establishing, governing, and evolving configuration management practices across government programs and contracts.

This role sets expectations for data integrity, traceability, and change control across the product lifecycle and ensures alignment with company, contractual, and regulatory requirements, even when standard CM practices are not explicitly defined or broadly adopted. The Senior CDM Manager provides cross-functional leadership, drives enterprise-level process improvement, and actively influences program and functional leadership to mature Configuration Management capability, governance, and culture adoption.

This position represents the government CDM function to senior leadership, customers, and external authorities, and reports directly to the Director of Configuration Data Management.

Work Locations (Hybrid): This is a U.S.-based hybrid role with flexibility to be based in one of the following locations:
  • Tempe, Arizona
  • Carlsbad, California
  • Duluth, Georgia
  • Marlborough, Massachusetts


Responsibilities:
  • Provides strategic leadership and direction for hardware and software configuration management, including lifecycle control, change governance, and cross-discipline integration across programs and functional organizations
  • Leads and oversees configuration management support for proposals and program planning activities, including review of RFPs and SOWs to define CM scope, develop BOEs, and ensure alignment with enterprise standards
  • Establishes and matures organizational CM capability across programs and business areas by setting expectations and driving consistent application of CM principles
  • Assesses contractual, technical, and program documentation to identify CM responsibilities, risks, and dependencies, ensuring appropriate flow-down and governance
  • Leads and governs CDM practices across multiple programs/product lines, ensuring consistency, compliance, and alignment with organizational and contractual requirements
  • Provides leadership and direction to the CDM team, including performance management and talent development
  • Builds cross-functional partnerships with engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and program management
  • Translates organizational objectives into actionable strategies and drives execution across programs
  • Represents the CDM function to senior leadership, customers, auditors, and regulatory authorities
  • Serves as subject matter expert in configuration identification, change management, data management, configuration status accounting, and audit readiness
  • Oversees and optimizes PLM systems and data governance protocols, driving digital thread continuity
  • Anticipates risks and resolves cross-program issues to ensure continuity and customer satisfaction
  • Ensures compliance with applicable standards (AS9100, EIA-649, MIL-STD-973, ISO-9001, ITAR/EAR)
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and compliance
  • Coaches and mentors managers and senior staff within the CDM function


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of progressive managerial experience leading professional staff
  • Deep knowledge of configuration management standards (e.g., AS9100, EIA-649) across hardware, software, and systems
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders
  • Advanced expertise in PLM systems, data governance, and CM strategies
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
