MITRE's Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Program Division seeks a highly skilled Systems Security Engineer to join our team. This role involves leading development of technologies and toolsets to enable a holistic, mission engineering focused Supply Chain Risk Management Program for the sponsor. Your enhancement and further development of these processes and toolkits will enable the delivery of trusted, resilient systems to the Warfighter in defense of the United States and its allies.

The job is a Lead Step, Huntsville, AL-based position; this work location is hybrid on-site and required to effectively foster staff and government relationships and shape the direct work program.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate full Systems Engineering lifecycle RDT&E experience in System Security Engineering, with focus areas in Supply Chain Risk Management, Systems Engineering, and Cybersecurity.
  • Coordinate strategic planning for Supply Chain Risk Management and Cyber-Supply Chain Risk Management technology development that aligns with MDA, Golden Dome, and Department of War policies and best practices.
  • Actively participate in MITRE Communities of Practice in Supply Chain Risk Management and System Security Engineering to bring domain-level knowledge to the sponsor, and foster development of staff on the project.
  • Identify and implement standardized data analytics tools and analytic capabilities for trade studies in support of Supply Chain Risk Management and implementing mitigations in acquisitions.
  • Conduct threat analyses on critical components to assist Programs with architecting and validating effective controls to mitigate Supply Chain and Non-Kinetic threats.
  • Facilitate program integration across multiple engineering teams and organizations to ensure cohesive and unified project execution.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or similar technical degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances. This position requires ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Expertise in System Security Engineering in support of development of DoW Weapon Systems and Command and Control Systems.
  • Experience in system architecture and capability design with respect to globally distributed System of Systems and the non-kinetic risks to mission success.
  • Experience in Program Protection Planning, with emphasis on Criticality Analysis and performing system security trade studies on Critical Program Information (CPI).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or similar field and with at least 8 years of experience.
  • Familiarity with the Missile Defense System and related systems engineering and system security engineering requirements and related processes and working groups.
  • Experience in developing and implementing technical project management to deliver solutions and implement them in sponsor environments.
  • Knowledge of threat intelligence, non-kinetic threats, and adversary emulation techniques.
  • Experience in Hardware Assurance, Software Assurance, and Cyber Test and Evaluation.
  • Experience with developing and presenting technical presentations to Program Director or SES-Level Stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning use-cases to enhance illumination of Supply Chains for Multi-Tier Acquisitions Projects.
  • Experience with NIST SP 800-161
  • Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance
