Position Overview
The Principal / Sr. Principal Cyber Software Test Engineer supports the testing and validation of mission-critical software applications in a fast-paced, Agile development environment. The role focuses on ensuring software quality across multiple platforms, including Windows, Linux, and Android, while supporting integration with wireless services and specialized hardware systems.
Success in this role requires strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the ability to clearly communicate testing results, risks, and recommendations. Work is performed onsite in Chantilly, VA in support of a secure federal program.

Key Responsibilities
• Participate in an Agile software development test team within a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Perform testing of mission-critical applications across Windows, Linux, Android, and integrated hardware systems
• Validate requirements through functional, usability, performance, security, compatibility, and regression testing
• Develop, maintain, and execute test plans, procedures, and test cases
• Review user stories and backlog items to assess testability and provide feedback
• Analyze requirements and define testing scenarios aligned to functional and technical specifications
• Identify, document, and communicate defects, risks, and issues to development and project teams
• Support troubleshooting efforts and isolate system failures across software and hardware components
• Configure and maintain test environments, including hardware and software systems
• Participate in technical discussions, sprint reviews, and product demonstrations with stakeholders
• Ensure testing activities are properly executed and documented in accordance with program standards
• Provide clear communication of testing progress, risks, and recommendations to management

Required Qualifications
• Active Secret clearance or higher required at start
• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, Master’s with 3+ years, PhD with 1+ year, or 9+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
• Experience with software and/or hardware testing across the development lifecycle
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks independently
• Strong understanding of system interfaces and validation across integrated environments
• Experience translating requirements and user stories into test plans
• Analytical skills to identify, isolate, and troubleshoot issues
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and stakeholder engagement

Preferred Qualifications
• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
• Ability to develop automation scripts using languages such as Python or JavaScript
• Background supporting testing of mobile applications, particularly on Android devices
• Working knowledge of Agile tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira
• Hands-on involvement with automated testing frameworks and tools (e.g., TestComplete)
• Capability to install, configure, and manage virtual machines
• Understanding of Agile Scrum methodologies and iterative development processes
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure testing practices
• Proficiency working within UNIX/Linux command-line environments
• Self-starter mindset with the ability to quickly learn new technologies and operate with minimal supervision
• Ability to guide team members on testing approaches and best practices
• Capability to provide test effort estimates and support planning activities for project teams
