Description:The position reports directly to the M&P manager and performs a wide variety of duties involved in supporting the production of advanced ceramic materials used in radome manufacturing for missile systems. This role involves tasks for executing the powder processing operations including raw material batching, slurry preparation, milling, thermal spray drying, and powder handling to produce high-quality ceramic powder used in production. This role will execute precise measurements, strict adherence to process documentation, and close coordination with engineering and quality teams to ensure consistent product quality and manufacturing efficiency. Interaction with internal customers, engineering communities, and production will be required. This position requires accurately weighing of batch raw materials according to controlled manufacturing instructions and process specifications, preparing ceramic slurries by combining raw materials into large mills, operation of thermal spray dryer including monitoring and adjusting in process parameters, conducting research, test, material application, and data recording to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis. The candidate will have to maintain strict control of material traceability, lot tracking, and data records; ensure compliance within process specifications and engineering requirements, perform routine cleaning of process equipment and work area, utilize required PPE including full face respirator and Tyvek suit; have the ability to lift large quantities of raw materials and stand for long periods of time; assist in work instruction development (procedures, reports, etc.), troubleshooting issues, and process reviews; evaluate specifications and work instructions where required; adapt or modify existing hardware, equipment, and systems to meet work specification requirements; perform engineering activities including material measurements, characterization, process verification, equipment research, and tooling repair/modification; follow work instructions for powder processing, raw material batching, slurry preparation, milling, thermal spray drying, and powder handling; document findings and results in accordance with technical guidance
Basic Qualifications:
Knowledgeable and experience in understanding engineering drawings and parts lists
2+ professional years experienced working with various materials i.e. solvents, ceramics, paints, composites, metallics, epoxies, coatings, wood, powders, and adhesives
2+ years experience executing step-by-step sequences of tasks, decisions, & processes to complete and close out tasks
Ability to obtain a secret security clearance
Desired Skills:
Experienced in maintenance, manufacturing, warehouse, or lab environment
Knowledgeable on cleaning methods of industrial equipment with conscientious work habits
Experience working with multiple levels of management, engineering, and customers
Experienced in methods on safe ways to lift up to 25lbs on a regular basis using proper lifting techniques and safe ways to bend, stoop, stand and/or sit for extended periods
Experienced in working and functioning in a dynamic, team-oriented environment
Experienced in oral and written communication to management
Knowledgeable of MS Office programs
Experienced in communicating to leadership, both written and oral
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
