Summary

ValidaTek is seeking a skilled and dedicated Mid-Level Systems Administrator to support the Cybersecurity Systems Support (CSS) contract with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This position leads a small team and is responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and security of enterprise systems in a high-security DoD environment. The ideal candidate will possess a solid technical foundation, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to support secure and stable IT infrastructure. This is a 100% on-site role located on Scott Air Force Base, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and/or Linux servers, ensuring optimal system performance and availability.
  • Manage and support enterprise services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Apply patches, updates, and antivirus definitions in compliance with DoD STIGs and IAVM directives.
  • Support user account administration and permission management in accordance with security and access policies.
  • Participate in the implementation and enforcement of security controls as part of the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Assist with eMASS documentation and ATO/IATT sustainment efforts.
  • Perform system monitoring, log analysis, and troubleshooting of hardware and software issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • Assist with backup and recovery operations, ensuring data protection and continuity.
  • Support the deployment and operation of cybersecurity tools including HBSS, ACAS, and SIEM platforms.
  • Work collaboratively with network, cybersecurity, and help desk teams to ensure secure, stable, and compliant system operations.


Qualifications

  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • 3+ years of experience in systems administration in a DoD or large enterprise environment and Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field OR equivalent hands-on experience.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE) - required.
  • Solid experience with Windows Server and/or Linux systems administration.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Working knowledge of STIG compliance, RMF, and security best practices.
  • Experience with system management and monitoring tools (e.g., SCCM, SolarWinds, PowerShell scripting).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently in a secure, structured environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading small team and coordinating with government POC in a watch center or similar environment.
  • Vendor certifications such as MCSA, RHCSA, or VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
  • Familiarity with eMASS, HBSS, ACAS, or Splunk.
  • Understanding of ITIL practices, including change and configuration management.
  • Experience supporting DoD or classified information systems.
