Overview
CommIT Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Product Designer/UI Artist to support digital modernization efforts for DoD customers. This role blends user research, service design, UI/UX design, and business analysis with Agile product delivery. You will work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Cybersecurity teams to design intuitive, mission‑focused solutions and ensure development efforts are grounded in validated user needs.

Responsibilities
Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to-
- Conduct user interviews, define personas, and perform usability testing to validate assumptions.
- Lead service design activities including journey mapping, workflow analysis, and future‑state design leveraging tools like Miro, Lucidchart, or Figma FigJam.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high‑fidelity UI/UX visual designs in Figma, Sketch, or comparable design tools.
- Perform current‑state and future‑state analysis to understand existing workflows and define modernized solutions.
- Evaluate information from multiple sources, reconcile conflicting inputs, and identify true user needs.
- Decompose and synthesize requirements into actionable, traceable tasks.
- Conduct process analysis and redesign to improve mission workflows and system usability.
- Apply strong analytical and logical thinking to technical problem solving and solution design.
- Partner with Product Managers to prioritize features, define product vision and strategy, and build outcome‑oriented roadmaps.
- Support backlog management, user story refinement, and Agile metrics using Jira and Confluence.
- Define Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), identify and test assumptions, and adjust direction based on user insights and data gathered through tools like Figma prototypes, usability testing platforms, and analytics dashboards.
- Collaborate with Engineers practicing test‑driven development, pair programming, evolutionary design, collective code ownership, and CI/CD within modern DevSecOps toolchains.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies within a blended Lean, Scrum, and XP environment.
- Coordinate with Cybersecurity teams to resolve POA&M items and incorporate RMF/Zero Trust constraints.
- Maintain a basic understanding of cloud architecture and its impact on design decisions.
- Document research findings, design decisions, workflows, and product artifacts in Confluence.
- Ensure requirements correlate to specific engineering tasks and mission outcomes.
Qualifications
Required Experience and Education:
- Ten (10) years with Masters or 14 years with Bachelor's degree of professional experience with research, design, and development of computer and network software or specialized utility programs which may include database maintenance within an application area. Individual shall have experience applying programming concepts in a professional or academic setting and notable experience with applying modern software development methodologies (e.g. agile, DEVOPS/DEVSECOPS) in a professional or academic setting.

- Experience in DoD or similarly regulated environments.
Preferred Skills:
- Agile Developer or Certified Scrum Developer certification.
Security Requirements:
- Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a T5
- Security+ CE
