Serco has projects supporting special technologies for the US Navy! This cleared Designer/CAD Drafter II position will be supporting the Naval Information Warfare Command. Bring your expertise and grow with a company supporting our military defense and training sites.
You will be part of a 10 member team that works closely with the customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality technical drawings. This position will support interesting and exciting tasks for the US Navy and other defense related projects.

You will be part of a 10 member team that works closely with the customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality technical drawings. This position will support interesting and exciting tasks for the US Navy and other defense related projects.
In this role, you will:
- Prepares, modifies and maintains plans, designs, drawings, and schematics for components and systems.
- Performs moderately complex drafting tasks typically using computer equipment.
- Works from sketches, notes, and verbal instructions.
- Uses computer-aided design (CAD) systems to prepare layouts and drawings. May perform site surveys and incorporate them into CAD files.
- May work with engineers in specific disciplines, which may require some knowledge of that discipline.
- Performs complex tasks requiring the consideration of multiple variables to determine proper course of action.
- Receives general guidance/supervision but normally works independently on mastered tasks.
- Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle.
- Produce comprehensive, quality drawings or technical documentation as required.
- Demonstrate proficiency using AutoCAD to accomplish engineering tasks.
- Perform individual and team Quality checks on drawings or technical documentation.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A US Citizen
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
- An Associate's degree in drafting and 2 years of experience in AutoCAD
- The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.
- Be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), climb ladders/stairs and possibly visit remote sites.
- Position may require night and weekend work and could include travel up to 10%.
- Employment is contingent upon obtaining all required certifications within the timeframe specified in a waiver by the government (if applicable) and maintaining required certifications through the duration of the contract. Failure to obtain/maintain required certifications will result in disqualification for this position and could result in termination.
- Candidate must exhibit a professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace.
- Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government, military, and contractor personnel at all levels.
- Candidate must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Grooming and dress must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.
- Must have reliable transportation to work sites in and around San Diego, CA
