Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an experienced IT Systems Manager with virtualization expertise to support enterprise IT operations for the Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). This role provides technical leadership and people management across critical infrastructure services, ensuring the reliability, security, and continuous improvement of enterprise systems. Work Environment:
- Full-time, on-site role in Washington, DC supporting secure, mission-critical DOE/NNSA enterprise systems.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage systems professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance oversight.
- Act as a technical advisor to resolve system issues, meet delivery schedules, and improve service reliability.
- Monitor system performance and implement enhancements to improve availability, efficiency, and resilience.
- Manage system schedules, performance objectives, and service delivery requirements.
- Oversee hiring, workforce development, and team growth initiatives.
- Identify technology opportunities and develop strategies to enhance enterprise information systems.
- Oversee account management, system security, workflows, and secure connectivity.
- Manage IT policies, procedures, and standards across enterprise systems.
- Support service management activities including SLA/OLA management, service delivery, problem management, and continuous service improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 10+ years of related professional IT experience.
- Extensive experience with VMware virtualization including deployment, administration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong expertise in enterprise storage technologies including SAN, NAS, and backup solutions.
- Hands-on experience with Commvault for enterprise backup and recovery.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with database platforms including SQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Working knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Strong understanding of IT security principles, compliance requirements, and best practices.
- Experience with ITIL frameworks, DevOps methodologies, and enterprise service management.
Clearance Requirement:
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Active Q or TS clearance (or equivalent) required, with the ability to obtain a Q clearance within six months.
Preferred:
- ITIL or ITIL v4 certification.
- Project Management certification.
- CISSP certification.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or similar cloud certification.
Compensation:
- Pay Band: $150,000 - $170,000 (based on years of applicable experience)
